Dined here to celebrate my sister's 50th B'day. The staff were very, very helpful in assisting me & her husband to surprise her. Worked out beautifully. As for the meal, we had a 5- or 6-course dinner. We paid corkage & brought in our own wine. I don't remember exactly what I had, but the thing that stands out in... More

Genoa is something of a Portland institution. It was one of the first really fine restaurants here, then went into some period of relative decline and reincarnated itself, complete with a radical facelift of the interior and the new chef. This was about three or four years ago. We've gone four times in the last year for special occasions. The... More

Genoa represents fine dining as it was defined 30 years ago. Don't expect a half pound burger with onion rings thrown at you by a server hired yesterday. Instead, you will be presented with a creative, delicious 5-course experience by a waiter who truly understands what is in front of you. Enjoy!

This place has the reputation of being the best fancy Italian restaurant in Portland. I had eaten there before and was satisfied, so I took my new wife as a very special occasion. Everything was terrible. Parking was very difficult. The place was very noisy and dark. It was very difficult to read the menu both because of the light... More

excellent food, but it took over 3 hours to eat a 5 course meal. it was like 30 minutes between courses and it took like 5 minutes to finish a course as portions were small. The food was really good, but I think once is enough for me.

For our anniversary dinner we decided to try the "new" Genoa again after over 10 years. The good: the dining room decoration, tables, atmosphere, etc... very comfortable and much to our liking. The wait staff was professional and helpful and the timing of each portion was very good. The food presentation was very good although not great while the food... More

This was my second experience @ Genoa, an elegant dining space in Portland's Belmont neighborhood. If you like sous vide cooking or just want to experience it, this is the place. The food is beautifully prepared and mostly sous vide preparations. Service is professional and the restaurant is quiet with tables nicely separated. It is a great place for a... More

Our dinner here was one of the finest meals we have ever eaten. We had the five course meal with wine pairings. The dishes were extraordinarily creative, and the wines were exquisite. Each course was right-sized and beautifully presented. The servers and the kitchen operated in perfect harmony, with courses served with perfect timing. I would be very surprised if... More

Dined here during the Portland June Dining Month and opted for the 3-course $29.99 menu, wine by the glass, and dessert. Service was impeccable: female waitstaff was friendly and attentive, male waitstaff was impersonal but professional. The main dining room was nicely, but sparsely, decorated - way too much space in between the tables. Unfortunately, we were seated in the... More
