Went here for lunch because I wanted something spicy with a touch of curry. The house specialty of wild salmon curry and vegetables was perfect

We ordered take out recently and were very impressed with what we brought home. The volcano beef was spicy, savory and tender. The ginger stir fry was zesty and full of veggies. The yellow curry was chicken rich and fresh. The pad thai with shrimp had sprout, peanut and cabbage highlights. All dishes were super laden with veggies like zukes,... More

On New Years Day, many restaurants were closed, but we were glad that Red Onion was open. The staff was friendly and the food was delicious. We ordered the Chicken Red Curry and the Pad See Ew. The laser ice was quick and the prices were extremely reasonable. We are definitely returning the next time we visit Portland!

Red Onion has all the classics, but I also love that they have seasonal dishes using fresh ingredients and offer Thai dishes you don't normally find at restaurants. A great example is the crab cake we had on our most recent visit using fresh Oregon crab. Very reasonably priced and fast service.

We ducked in for a late lunch yesterday while shopping in NW Portland. Even though lunch is only served until 2:30 and we arrived at 2:00, we were warmly welcomed and immediately seated. The Pad Thai was very good and spiced just to taste. The crab cake appetizer was amazing. Two crab-packed and perfectly seared cakes in a thin mildly... More

I was introduced to this place while I lived in Portland. But now, when I visit Portland, I make it a point to go in here for a meal of Kao Sui or green curry. Unlike many Thai places, the chef is very respectful about spice tolerance levels and options are offered right from mild to very spicy. (In my... More

I was super impressed by the freshness and flavor of all four of the dishes we had. Service and atmosphere were good, but this place is all about the quality and authenticity of the food. Reasonably priced, clean, friendly service. Located in a popular area (NW 23rd St) so parking can be a problem. We will definitely return. Yum!

we decided that we wanted to eat Thai one evening and having read some reviews of the various options this one stood out a mile. Having eaten there am really not surprised. From the outside it looks fairly basic and indeed there are no frills. But the food was extremely tasty and very well cooked. In addition it was very... More

This place has great food. The flavor was wonderful. A surprise little gem in a nice neighborhood close to downtown. Street parking only. Finding a space can be difficult during lunch.
