Great little diner!

The little collectibles from all over the country made me smile as I recalled, in my mind, I remember that! The biscuits and gravy was fantastic! The best I have had in a very, very long time. Be sure you are hungry. You will probably skip lunch and have just a snack for dinner. Lovely... read more

Came here for breakfast. Sat at the bar, the whole place has a very relaxed and easygoing vibe. Staff is helpful and very attentive. I had blueberry pancakes, they were a bit bland, otherwise very loveley. But of course a huge portion, I was unable to finish. Coffee was good and I tried a pumpkin scone, that was great. Nice... A little online searching and we discovered the Byways and ate there 3 times during our stay in Portland. The waitstaff were really lovely. The food was very good, lots of choice. Most everyone was local, which says a lot for a restaurant. We will return to the Byways next time we are in Portland.

Finding an out of the way cafe is always a treasure especially when the time warp factor is in play. From the cheery greeting, cheeky waitstaff and 50s decor to the delicious food, Byways is the place to have a bite. All the meats are locally sourced, as are the breads and the side salad deserves accolades all by itself.... More

Forget those expensive hotels and boring food from a steam table at a buffet. This is breakfast that is wholesome, creative and yet unpretentious. This place is cool and not fancy. If you were to walk by and look in the windows and say "no" you are making a huge mistake. Look at the people inside, they know good food... More

We took a day trip here from the East coast, and decided eat here after seeing the place on TV Food Network. It was cozy, and you certainly knew this was a "mom and pop" place. The wait staff was great, promptly greeted and we had our drinks within 2 minutes of being seated. The menu was short given they... More

Not fancy- homey. Friendly place with incredibly delicious comfort food. Don't miss it! Best grill cheese with balsamic tomato and bacon I have ever had. Reasonable prices and very nice staff!

The atmosphere is quaint and no frills, but the food is delicious. I had the Space Needle Scramble and thought it was really good. Also, I got a pancake on the side...I didn't think there was much you could do to a pancake, but this one was really good! You may have a little bit of wait to get seated,... More

This is a small place, so get here early on the weekends. I came on a Saturday morning with some friends and we sat at the counter. Awesome decor and friendly staff. I had the Greek omelette: Eggs, chicken sausage, spinach, tomatoes, feta cheese & artichokes. It was delicious! It was within walking distance from the Nob Hill area. This... More
