This small diner-type restaurant is a different place to go for breakfast. Decorated with old car license plates and souvenir collectors' plates, it has good food at about $10 before the orange juice and coffee. It is noisy and busy most of the time (I've been there multiple occasions). Service is not likely to be fast but the servers are... More

This was within walking distance of the house we were staying at so we took a chance and walked over, it was a good idea! It had a very short wait and was a cute little dinner! The coffee was very good, the omelette was delicious, didn't love the potatoes they serve as a side option. They ran out of... More

I eat at Byways about once a week. This is a wonderful place to go with friends or alone for breakfast and lunch. I love it because of the counter service, it really is one of the best places in PDX to get a healthy meal fast and reasonable. The staff are all wonderful people!

Really enjoyed it. I got there early, by the time I finished they were lining up out the door. The food was very good and the service friendly.

As a corncake aficionado I never miss an opportunity to sample them when they are on the menu. The corn cakes at Byways are wonderful. Texture, flavor, sweetness, presentation, syrup (real maple!), portion size - they earn a 10 on each point. We also loved the omelette special - which was grande, goopy and delish!

This little café has great service but I found the food quality was poor. The 12 dollar burger I ordered looks amazing. The patty was cooked perfectly but yet lacking of seasoning. Actually didn't taste any seasoning at all for the price I expected better.

There are many other places in Portland (and the Pearl) to get a better breakfast. Byways is original and has been there forever, Portlanders flock there to remember a bygone time. But the food there is just OK.

Our food - migas and the big valley omelette - was great. The potatoes are okay (not as good as Utopia cafe, if I may). The service was good and the atmosphere is cozy and inviting. I'm not sure if it's worth a super long wait (we got there pretty early on a Sunday and beat the crowds) but it's... More

As breakfast foodies, we greatly appreciated this place. Nice diner style hole in the wall with funky collections, but fantastic traditional selection of breakfast foods for every pallet, large portions with a great options for eating healthy or with special needs! Thanks Byways!
