This was my first time going to this restaurant, (we bought a groupon for it). It was a date night for my husband and I, (we don't drive the 12 miles to go down town often) and we made a night of it - movie and dinner at this restaurant. It felt like an intimate, cozy restaurant. We visited with... More

If you are downtown Portland (near Southwest 4th and Morrison) and like Middle Eastern food (Lebanese and Syrian) food, I highly recommend you try this restaurant. The food is very good, and very reasonable. And the menu has a huge number of choices, so you can go back (which I will do). I had the Meat Meza which was excellent,... More

I really wanted to ask if I could kiss the chef. I almost did, but I was too shy. Maybe next time. ;) The cuisine was exceptional. We started off with the vegetable grape leaf. Wow, far exceeded what we tasted before in other restaurants. These little bundles of goodness were truly made with a warm heart and someone who... More

Recently had dinner at Karam. Shared fried cauliflower and fried eggplant appetizers with a somewhat thin lemony sauce. Mains were lamb shank and goat stew with added bamia (okra), both very tender. Rice served on side plus a lettuce salad. Service was a bit hurried and dishes piled up on the table, so we were pleased we had a four... More

The food was excellent and reasonable. I had a Balela appetizer and the lamb shank, which was meaty and tender. They brought several loaves of hot fresh-baked bread for dipping. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. I'd definitely return to try more of their dishes.

Great atmosphere at their new location and the menu goes on for pages. Many dishes I have never heard of. The baba was tangy and smoky, just the way I like it. The quantity was sufficient to take home and have another meal for two! Friendly folks with the characteristic, middle eastern hospitality that allowed folks to survive in the... More

I met a friend here for an early dinner (around 5pm on a weekday) and there was only one other person in the restaurant. We ordered the chicken with couscous and the vegetarian platter, which came with a variety of items. A small salad was brought out first, but had too much dressing on it. The flavor was good, but... WOW......this is authentic! The atmosphere was wonderful and the service friendly, attentive and quick. The food was scrumptious! Try the vegetable Fattee. It was melt in your mouth amazing. The combo meat plate was also very good. We look forward to dining there again.

We visited here on a Groupon and will be making it a habit, as well as recommending it to anyone who will listen. The service was great, the restaurant is beautiful, and the food was incredibly tasty, in generous portions, and very affordable at full price. Even the bathrooms are lovely!

For an authentic meal try Karam. Their lamb dishes are terrific and many of their items are available as full dinners or smaller wraps for lunch. Run by a real Lebanese family, it's often entertaining to watch the parents and the children scurrying around serving customers.
