We love going to Karam every time we visit Portland. One of the best Lebanese food restaurants out there. Highly recommend it.
Had dinner her with my wife and 16 year old daughter. The food was great. We had a pita bread and hummus appetizer that we all enjoyed. My daughter had the lentil soup which was amazing. I had a traditional Lebanese meal sort of a lamb meat ball with a cream sauce that was interesting, I can't remember my wife's... More
I ate at Karam with a friend of Lebanese heritage. She was surprised to see many dishes from her childhood on the menu. While a couple we tried didn't measure up to her mother's cooking (do they ever?!) she pronounced the food very good and authentic. I loved the vegetable mezza with excellent baba ghnoush and the kibbee. The restaurant... More
This might be my new favorite downtown Portland restaurant. I sort of had to talk my husband into eating here but it was close to our hotel and I really like Mediterranean food. He was very happy! It was a rather crowded Saturday night but our timing was impeccable and we got a table right away. I thought the service... More
We were overcharged for our lunch, when we notified the waitress, she was very sweet and wanted to fix it, but her manager refused to let her. When we pointed out that it was higher than what was on the menu, she said it was a computer issue and disappeared. Sad, sad, sad.
We were stumbling around downtown Portland and this place was recommended, thought we'd give it a shot. It didn't look like much from the outside, a simple plain, older restaurant. Wow, were we surprised, what awesome food, the hummus was to die for, the service was top notch and we will go back, loved it!
My husband is Lebanese and knows good Lebanese food when he tastes it. He was very pleased with the dishes he tried here. I have eaten at many Lebanese restaurants and found myself loving everything I tried. Between the two of us, our big votes go to their Kibbee! We had the Kibbee balls and baked Kibbee, and loved them!... More
First of all, let me say that I don't know anything about Lebanese food. I have eaten at two Lebanese restaurants, Karam, and that "other" one just down the street from Karam. Karam was far and away the best of the two, so don't get them confused when you walk down Stark st. and see the two restaurants a half... More
We go to this restaurant very often and love this place for the food, service & ambiance. I am a vegetarian and so I don't have much options. But, I tried the Mujadara(Rice, Lentils and Caramelized Onion Pilaf) and it became one of my favorite dish. Very few Lebanese restaurants has this in their menu. You need to try this... More
We really like the food at Karam's. There are many good middle-eastern restaurants in the area, but Karam's has the best pitas. The pitas are freshly made, hot and soft, and really enhance any meal. The restaurant has a few vegetarian choices, but not as many as some of the other middle-eastern restaurants.
