Our tasting menu ($70) + wine ($40) was $110 per person. Neither imaginative nor particularly well-executed, the food was just passable for such a high-priced Portland dining experience (exception: the charcuterie is absolutely noteworthy); the service was lackluster; and the decor reminded me of a small-city coffeehouse from the 1990s. We were all looking forward to the experience, but came... More

Went to Paley's for a quiet girls night. Low key setting in a beautiful house. We ordered several dishes and sides and shared everything. Everything was delicious, the food reminded me of something you would have at a posh dinner party. It was simple and well made with quality ingredients. They have an excellent selection of cheeses, don't miss ordering... More

Wow, they open at 5:00 and there were customers waiting for the doors to open. Thought we'd be alone with the blue hairs with a 5:30 reservation. Nope, place was filling up fast with all hands on deck seating. No problem, the bar was fine for us. Bartender great and a perfect Martini to start the night, accompanied by great... More

Highly recommended...innovative, fresh, and elegant dining...love the half portion options. The steak tartar is among the best I've ever had. Superb service...excellent destination for special occasions.

This place is a veritable Portland institution so we were keen to try. The fresh shucked oysters were rinsed of all salty liquor; they might as well have come from a jar. The charcuterie platter (at $50 for a large! was unseasoned, bland, and at wrong temperatures. (The rillette was warm and slimy, for example.) So disappointing. My steelhead salmon... More

Paley's was one of three places my fiancée and I dined in Portland the weekend we got engaged, and Paley's was hands-down the best one. The decor is classy but not overly formal, hip but not overly casual. Most of all, it was very romantic. We were treated very well from the moment we walked in -- coats taken, seated... More

Not impressed. Over-priced. Unskilled staff. Pretentious. Long wait even with reservations. Had to order lemons for my water three times and had to order drinks twice before arrival. No vegetarian options. Small portions. Weird vibe honestly.

As part of a progressive dinner... we went to Paley's for dessert. I had the Olive Oil Cake...The flavours were amazing. The cake, the ice cream...and the textures were unexpected and perfect. I'd love to go back and have dinner there.

I took my son to Paley's Place last night. It was wonderful. The service was excellent. Our server made helpful suggestions at my behest; she was friendly and sincere and she had excellent taste. We could tell that she enjoyed waiting on us. The food was amazing. The charcuterie housemade pastrami was the best I have ever tasted. The mustard... More

Excellent food. The quail was exquisite. Half portions really are small, though. Expensive but worth it. Nice service and atmosphere.
