Unforgetable lamb dumplings and sweet corn risotto

Visited on a Wednesday evening when PP offers wine flights and additional appetizers. A novel twist is that the wine flight includes an extra wine sample and if you correctly identify the varietal and vineyard then the entire wine flight is free! Paley's Place is a delightful bistro. The lamb... read more

very fancy french place, the kind where you cant read the menu, but the food was ok, too expensive though and i did not see french dip on the menu. If it had french dip on the menu i would come back, but what kind of french place does not have french dip anyway this is just crazy

We went to this place at the recommendation of my son who spent some time researching Portland food scene. We thought - the chef is Russian and he is an Iron Chef. High expectations. Bread was good. Cheese plate - underwhelming. Intermezzos - good. Salads - good. Main courses - big ? Escargot with bone marrow??? Sweetbreads with fried green... More

Two couples. Four delicious dinners. Very excellent service. Two lovely bottles of wine. Great atmosphere. What's not to like? Very highly recommended.

Even on a Thursday evening, don't fail to reserve. The service was impeccable and friendly. I love escargot anyway, but this preparation was unique and amazing, bordelaise and marrow accompanied it, and all "fit" perfectly. The lamb dumplings were so fabulous that we lapped up every bit of the sauce. This was a "clean plate" entree for sure. Don't miss... More

This was very good. To start, We had a charcuterie plate of chicken liver pate, prosciutto, and rabbit rillete. There are other choices, but they all are rich. Each of us had salad --- the tomatoes with mozzarella was excellent. The grab of greens was a great mix of cold lettuces with a light dressing and fresh radishes. Simple but... More

Very posh place, and the food is not the best downtown Portland. Inside looks really nice and modern.

This was our first trip to Portland. Friends had ranted and raved about Paleys Place. We arrived Sunday night after a a long day and traveling. We were seated immediately. No surprise since it was not very busy on a Sunday night. Cute restaurant. Biggest problem starting out was that we sat waiting for the waitress to address us for... More

We had a very pleasant Saturday night dinner at Paley's. We called in the mid afternoon and we able to get reservations early, our preference. When we arrived at 6 pm our table was ready and the restaurant was still pretty quiet. Things picked up and the place was full before we left 2 hours later. Call for reservations. Though... More

Highlights include the octopus appetizer and the birch syrup flan--will be thinking about those for a while...
