Consistently delicious

This was our fourth visit to Papa Haydn over several years, so it is our “go to” place that has consistently great food. My partner is from Portland, so he and his family have made this Portland institution a must on every visit. The menu is diverse, so you can eat as heartily as you want... read more

This is a nice place! They have a long menu of delicious desert. I went with a friend after dinner and we ordered their lemon cake. Amazing! I also ordered a hot chocolate that came with a big yummy marshmallow. The environment is pleasant to go with friends or even for a date. I can't wait to go again and explore... More

Had a very pleasant dinner here with friends last week. Restaurant was crowded but cold (it was as though the AC was blowing on our table and the waiter was unable to have it regulated). Food was very good but we were disappointed there weren't more vegetarian choices. The desserts, however, were awesome. Split some kind of triple-chocolate cake with... More

This restaurant was overflowing with people on a Monday night. That should tell you all you need to know! The dessert menu is larger than the regular menu and people actually make reservations for dessert. Need I say more?!?

This place is jam packed and I'm guessing that's most days, not just Mother's Day, when my daughters took me for dinner and dessert. We had reservations, which got us in close to that time, however, as it was so busy, it did take somewhat past our reservation time to actually be seated. Mainly because the table they wanted to... Overall ok.....the omelet was very greasy...and somewhat liquidity..not fun....dessert was awesome of course.....kids menu was reasonable. ....we did think the alcohol beverages were overly expensive. ....if we return...only dessert.

Wow, what a dessert menu...even if you don't have dinner/drinks, it's worth a visit just to review the dessert menu. The food is Portland fare (seafood is great), microbrews are good and the desserts are world class!

Disclaimer: You cannot get a bad mean in Portland proper and you can't even get a mediocre meal on 23rd St. And, with that qualification being made - I'm here to tell you that Papa Haydn (pronounced Hyden) is exemplary. It was an atypical warm sunny May afternoon and we sat at a small table on the sidewalk. Service was... More

Enjoyed excellent service, a unique menu, and incredible desserts. Our first visit here, but we will be back. Had French onion soup, turkey sandwich, and a salmon entree'. Lemon chiffon cake for dessert with "Happy Birthday" in chocolate script.

I visited the Westmoreland location and found most of it unspectacular. Been here a a number of times over the decades and I think it has lost its edge. Tables so close that your neighbors conversation is unavoidable. Food a few bucks more than other places and not that good. Service was weak. Desserts remain amazing. Visually stunning, interesting (we... More
