Great casual, superb vegetables & Marvelous Deserts

We went in at 5:15, with 3 adults and 3 children. I had warm cauliflower salad (honest), curried coconut soup and a very rich chocolate desert. Other adults ordered Palermo Pasta. All were great, with the pasta earning a "fantastic". Were so good, I asked for recipes... but no luck. Wait staff... read more

My husband and I tried a place we had never been before on 23rd street in Portland, Oregon. The atmosphere is fantastic, cozy and open. The service was perfect and the food was so amazing I wanted to go back the next day. I had a organic raised hamburger with some amazing sauce the chef made from scratch on a... More

Delicious desserts, but both our entrees were salty. I can see why they are known for their desserts, and there is so much to choose from. Next time though, I think I would rather eat at the jo bar side, and Ive had their desserts before... they were incredible, and there isnt too much to choose from.

Server was slow on a Sunday night. We ordered onion soup-good, steak and chicken. Both had very little flavor. Potatoes were just slices of potatoes with nothing on them. Decided on dessert to go. When we got back to the hotel, it was not as good as we expected. Lacking in flaoir all around in dinner. Will not go back... More

The desserts are to die for. I had the Georgian Peanut Butter Mousse Torte - very rich excellent. If you need a break... More

A local institution for cakes and desserts, it gets crowded with people who stop here after their meals to satisfy their sweet tooths. So expect a wait. BUT, it might be less crowded and easier to get a seat at dinnertime, then stay for dessert. The food menu is small, but the food is all good; and the star of... More

I will be honest I have never had a meal here. But we have on many occassions had coffee and dessert. Always it was wonderful. I would say for couples more than a group. If they are full not much room to wait around for a table on a rainy PDX day.

Food was great. Unfortunately there is a very limited menu and a little high on price for what you get. We had a very nice dinner there but my boyfriend went home hungry because the portions are so small and come with no sides (which unless you've been there, you wouldn't know this because it's not clear on all entrees... Perfect place for a special occasion! The food is also good, but after a meal, it's tough to also finsih a desert - so plan on leftovers. Something for everyone from gorgeous pies, cakes, cheesecakes, cookies to ice creams. Everything is ginormous and the servers are happy and friendly, too. Worth the wait.

I always bring new Portland visitors to Papa Haydn for dessert. Expect a wait! We went on a Saturday night (about 10:00) and had a 45 minute wait. Any of the desserts will be delicious!
