We heard this area was quintessential Portland so we gave it a try for lunch. My daughter and I both had the salmon salad. It was very good as was the bread served hot before the meal. The waiter was a delight and reminded my daughter of the show "Portlandia" so she was very happy with the food, the service... More

Stopped by for happy hour drinks and snacks. Great outdoor seating. Refreshing cocktails. Knowledgeable staff.

We ate elsewhere but wanted to try the desserts here, so we picked out a couple and took them back to our hotel room. Portions were large, befitting the large boxes they were packed in. My wife adored her chocolate mint mousse cake. It was smooth and creamy, with just the right proportions of mint and chocolate. She intended to... More

I have only been here for late night dessert, but I will be coming back to try dinner. Their desserts are unique and served beautifully. They have such a wide assortment of things that I wished the portions werent so big or that they did a taster tray of cakes. The dessert area is very european cafe style and great... More

Had a late lunch and couldn't resist the desserts amply displays in a case as you enter. Lunch and food was also very good, with 2 having sandwiches and two with a summer pasta. All fresh ingredients and reasonably priced for the quality. Would definitely return and this time not split a dessert!

We were a large group (14) for Sunday brunch. The service was good and prompt. Prices very reasonable. With that large a group, we ordered most of the dishes on the menu and no one was disappointed. We sat facing the dessert counter and so had to have one of their phenomenal desserts to share at the end of the... More

I've been popping in and out of Papa Haydn's for about 35 years; I used to live in Portland, and still visit annually to see family. Papa Haydn's has long been a favorite stop. The one reviewed here, located in NW Portland, is located near a lot of fun shops in a pedestrian-friendly part of Portland. The ambiance is friendly,... More

We went here for dessert after eating dinner somewhere else. I do not have opportunities like this as I live very rural, so I was a pig! The hard part was choosing: we stood in front of the dessert case forever, wanting them all. The servings were large so I had half left over to eat at breakfast--a neopolitan kind... More

This place is a first class winner. Three of us came for dinner and it was very inexpensive. Then we saw the desserts. Yikes. Could be the best in Portland. Busy, but we got in in ten minutes. More people we streaming in as we left. All for the evening desserts. Great dinner, sandwiches were to die for and then... More

Dessert for dinner. Yep, that's why we went to Papa Haydn's, and they did not disappoint. Service was great, and the dessert was phenomenal. BEST. Creme Brulee. Ever. Oh, and the crispy meringue dessert (forgot the name) was so out of this world refreshing, different and delicious. Will definitely return the next time we're out in PDX.
