Description: Bluehour means different things to different people. In French literature it describes any time of day "of heightened emotion." In Portland it has come to mean "a great place to dine." As the premier modern restaurant in the Pearl District, Bluehour opened its doors in 2000, with what Gourmet Magazine describes as, "the most sophisticated, contemporary food in town." Guests choose between the elegant dining room or the casual cafe and bar. Simple, delicious and classic describes the Mediterranean cuisine we create in the Bluehour kitchen each night. The menu is printed daily, but Bluehour standards remain, like the pillowy potato gnocchi with black truffle and the perfectly seared, bacon wrapped sea scallops. Our cheese cart is among the finest on the West Coast, featuring regional and international artisan cheeses.

This first class, eclectic restaurant in the Pearl District, was a great way to finish our 10 day trip to the Pacific Northwest. The food had both great presentation and taste, the wine selection was wide ranging including a good choice of Oregon Wines. The service was attentive without being overbearing. Definitely worth a trip.

We were in the Portland area for just one night on a longer Pacific Northwest vacation and I stumbled upon this restaurant when researching things to do. I only booked it because it had a 1000 point Open Table reservation and I thought, why not? To my surprise it was fantastic. We were very under-dressed (it being a hiking vacation... More

The inside of this restaurant is super nice and the bar is a great place to have a few bites to eat and have some happy hour drinks. The bartenders are nice and make interesting drinks or a request without hesitation. I did get very sick, like have to rush home, after having the cesar salad dressing here and some... More

I hope you saw my response over on Yelp, Vanessa. If not, I'll reiterate my words: This is not normal for us, and I'm incredibly sorry. I hope you'll take a second to respond to the questions I asked because I think it would really help me figure out what happened. Take care, Bruce Carey Owner More

This is truly fine dining in an old warehouse that has been converted into a very appealing place in the Pearl District. It is expansive, but they have hung navy blue lightweight curtains to cordon off the table areas and cut down on the noise level. We had a nice waiter, Leif, who was attentive and pleasant. The drink menu... More

Let me start by extending my gratitude for your kind words. We've done our best to make this place an enjoyable, memorable, and most importantly delicious dining experience. Leif, and the rest of our wait staff, are a big part of that experience, and I know he'll appreciate your shout out. I'm happy to hear that you enjoyed your cheese... More

We loved almost everything about Bluehour in Portland's Pearl District. The menu, portions (not large but delectable and certainly enough to know you've dined well), service and decor were all excellent. The curtains between the tables provide privacy and intimacy in an otherwise large room and guests seemed to dress up for the occasion. The wine list was very creative... More

Dinner was great, started off with a dozen yummy oysters and the seared Foie Gras. Shared a couple salads - I liked how they served the grilled cauliflower salad. For entrees our table had fish, duck and lamb - everything was delish. The restaurant was extremely busy and so our meal took a bit longer than normal, but the service... More

Stopped here for a quick lunch. I had a Caesar salad and spaghetti Bolognese. These are both lunch staples, and were well executed. Service was excellent and the space is contemporary and quiet. We will be back.

Thursday 7pm in Portland and no reservations. Tried to get into several places but all were too busy. Walking by front of Bluehour and noticed very few patrons inside. We were seated immediately. The service was excellent, the atmosphere was comfortable but the food, for the price, was only OK. It looked very pretty but the menu is quite limited and nothing particularly special. For somewhere that sells itself as a fine dining option I expected something more. I would go again but probably only for pupus - wine and the cheese board... More
