Description: Bluehour means different things to different people. In French literature...
Bluehour means different things to different people. In French literature it describes any time of day "of heightened emotion." In Portland it has come to mean "a great place to dine." As the premier modern restaurant in the Pearl District, Bluehour opened its doors in 2000, with what Gourmet Magazine describes as, "the most sophisticated, contemporary food in town." Guests choose between the elegant dining room or the casual cafe and bar. Simple, delicious and classic describes the Mediterranean cuisine we create in the Bluehour kitchen each night. The menu is printed daily, but Bluehour standards remain, like the pillowy potato gnocchi with black truffle and the perfectly seared, bacon wrapped sea scallops. Our cheese cart is among the finest on the West Coast, featuring regional and international artisan cheeses.

No longer a hot spot, but still good food.

We went to Bluehour with friends for dinner on a Saturday night, after we could not get into our first-choice restaurant down the street. We had not been to Blue in many years. We ended up sitting on the terrace, with a too-small table, but we got to see and hear all the excitement in the Pearl. We... read more

Hosted a business dinner for 12 here in their banquet room. Very nice layout with a separate entrance and our own bartender and waiter. Cocktails were outstanding as were the selection of appetizers, which included tiny crab finger sandwiches, pork meatballs, and fried cauliflower. Great presentation and flavors! After we sat down, most of us started with caprese salads featuring... More

Although the food was good, not great, I would not recommend Bluehour. We visited on a Tuesday and the restaurant was so noisy I left with a headache and ringing in my ears. I cannot imagine what it would be like on the weekend.

I'm incredibly sorry that things were so noisy during your visit. Because of our extensive use of sound dampening drapery these rare sorts of complaints are rooted in one particular table or party, so I wish you would've let us know -- we would've been happy to move you to a new area of the restaurant had we just known... Having been a chef myself for many years, it takes a lot for me to go to an "expensive" restaurant. Far too often I am left unsatisfied and thinking to myself, "Man, I could have done better than that at home for a lot less money!" The nice thing about BlueHour is that when the meal is over, I can... More

We were wandering through the Pearl District, on a hot day. We stopped into a shop where we bought a ceramic and glass cat. We asked the staff where we could go nearby to get a drink. They recommended Bluehour. A great location with an excellent wine-by-the-glass list.

We dined here on the fourth of July - so I don't know if we had a typical or atypical experience. We had a great dinner - the pace was relaxed, the restaurant was quiet and peaceful, we weren't hurried, we had great service, and the food was well worth it. The wine list was good - it was really... More

My husband and I joined 5 other people for a business dinner. Had a very nice table and an affable waiter. The Cocktails were tasty and fun as was the decorative Deserts. As for the appetizers and main course- I have to say that at least several of us were disappointed. The appetizers were tiny and expensive. I wish that... More

I'm sorry to see that our portion sizes let you down. Our appetizer options are all intended to be "small bite" portions, but it sounds like your server didn't explain that to you. As for your pork chop, I wish you would've let us know about that crust not being up to par -- we absolutely would've made things right.... More

We were downtown on business yesterday and decided to try Bluehour for lunch. We were delighted with the quality of the food.
