Description: Bluehour means different things to different people. In French literature it describes any time of day "of heightened emotion." In Portland it has come to mean "a great place to dine." As the premier modern restaurant in the Pearl District, Bluehour opened its doors in 2000, with what Gourmet Magazine describes as, "the most sophisticated, contemporary food in town." Guests choose between the elegant dining room or the casual cafe and bar. Simple, delicious and classic describes the Mediterranean cuisine we create in the Bluehour kitchen each night. The menu is printed daily, but Bluehour standards remain, like the pillowy potato gnocchi with black truffle and the perfectly seared, bacon wrapped sea scallops. Our cheese cart is among the finest on the West Coast, featuring regional and international artisan cheeses.

Granted there a different tastes in restaurants. However, having traveled the world and eaten at some of the top 50 Michelin's (including many dining establishments in Portland) - Bluehour is great in quality and service. No rush - timing met our needs and entrees and firsts were superb. Bluehour stick to what you do - Portland needs to recognize and... More

A group of eight of us had Thanksgiving dinner at BlueHour. There was a special prix fixe menu with three choices of appetizers, main courses, and dessert. Overall, it was fine but not outstanding. It was very busy that night, so the servers seemed a bit hassled, and given the larger size of our group, we were seated right next... More

I want to apologize for not completely impressing you during your visit with us on Thanksgiving. The prix fixe was intended to be a unique departure from what we usually offer. As for the atmosphere, I wish you would've let your server know about the chill -- we would've happily worked to make you and your party more comfortable. I... More

We arrived 30 minutes before our 6p reservation and asked for a seat at the bar to have a drink while we waited. The bartender was great, perfectly attentive and made a great White Russian. I received a decent pour of Bullet rye and we sat for about ten minutes, talking and enjoying ourselves. The hostess offers us a table... More

I again want to apologize for putting a damper on your special Thanksgiving, Rob. Your experience has honestly weighed heavily on me, and words really can't describe how disappointed I am to have let you down. While I generally hear great things about our food and service, that is no excuse for the experience you had here. I can only... More

We had Thanksgiving dinner at the Bluehour. While not what one would expect for such a famous holiday, the food was excellent. I do think it would be ideal for a lucnh date or dinner date, especially for a special occasion.

Thanks for joining us on Thanksgiving, Carolyn! I'm really glad you had such a good holiday with us -- we tried to put an interesting spin on things by departing from the typical foods expected, so I'm glad you enjoyed what we were serving. Hope to see you again soon for lunch or dinner! Bruce Carey Owner More

I've been a long-time fan of Bluehour for almost a decade and have sampled brunch, dinner and lunch as well as happy hour. The ambiance is always nice -- modern but not stuffy, and the service is good. I highly recommend this Portland eatery.

We were in Portland for just 2 nights. The 1st restaurant of choice for this dinner was too noisy & too cramped. We wanted somewhere quiet & with great food, of course. We decided on Bluehour & we weren't disappointed. We were sat by a window. The restaurant was subdued & we can actually hear each other talk. We had... More

Love that Blue-hour's happy hour goes till 6:30. There's a varied menu & several price points. The $20 bottle of red wine was delicious!

We met two other couples here for dinner - great atmosphere. We sat at the table right in front of the kitchen, enjoyed watching the staff in action. I had the halibut for dinner, it was prepared perfectly and more than I could eat. Service was very attentive. Will return.

You got the best seat in the house -- it's always really fun to watch the chefs at work, and I'm glad you got to experience that! It's even better to hear that the food you watched cook also happened to taste so good. I'm thrilled you enjoyed your halibut, and I hope we'll be seeing you soon. Thanks for... More

This was recommended by the hotel concierge as having "ambiance" if you consider thumping techno music and a seriously overpriced menu to have ambiance. The food was good, but small portions for the price. Not a good value. There are too many other fine restaurants in Portland to comeback here.

I'm really disappointed to read this, and I'm sorry that our vibe wasn't exactly for you. You mentioned that our menu seemed overpriced given the portions we provided, but our prices are based on the high quality ingredients we use and the skilled staff that we hire. I'm incredibly sorry that our flavors didn't make those prices more than worthwhile.... More
