Good food, excellent service

We went to El Gaucho for steaks and the cigar lounge on a Friday night. We ended up ordering the special that evening, Halibut Cheeks (if you haven't tried these and enjoy seafood, you definitely need to try them). They were a little overcooked, but were excellent. The menu is a' la carte, which... read more

we wanted o dine at El Gaucho one last time since we are moving to our new retirement home in Arizona. We have been coming to El gaucho since it opened many years ago. One thing that has been consistent through out our dining history here, is we have never had a bad meal and the service is spot on... More

This restaurant served an amazing meal and great experience. Top notch service from Kyle. Great martinis and a spectacular wine recommendation. Great shrimp starter, excellent steak. Crazy good Mac and cheese and excellent Cherry Jubilee. First class A+ food and service. Expensive, yes but worth every penny. Loved it!!

Had a later reservation but were hungry earlier. Showed up and found a great booth in the bar. This is a great place and typical El Gaucho experience. Love our meals at all them as they make you feel like you are important-and you pay for that thank you very much! No complaints, and I would encourage you to give... More

One of our half-dozen best restaurant experience - food quality, attentive staff, overall atmosphere. We never had to look for wait staff for attention - they never let our water or tea glasses go empty, they plied us with plenty of delicious garlic bread - and yet they were not overbearing. Yes, it's very expensive, so go here only if... More

We are big fans of the El Gaucho in Tacoma, WA so we thought we'd try the Portland location while we were there. The atmosphere is warm and relaxing, the food was wonderful, and the service was great! We'll come back to visit this El Gaucho the next time we're in Portland.

The service was very good and the staff friendly, helpful and attentive... high marks for the serving staff, all wonderful people! Holy cow... who on this planet thinks that the food is worth the money that they charge... relative to the quality no way, stupidly expensive, nuts and inconsistent with the overall package! We eat out often and have avoided... More

Of course it's great steaks, but we really enjoy that this is one of the few places that does Bananas Foster at your table. Plus the French Onion Soup is excellent. But in our case this was all secondary to the great service and time eating with friends.
