Strength in pasta, service needs improvement

We went here for their special Valentine's Day dinner at $45 each (no wine pairing offered or dessert included). Some aspects were good, but there was definitely room for improvement: 1. Food. Food carries a great deal of weight in the restaurant experience. Most of the food was pretty good, although nothing so creative that I would rave about it.... More

The restaurant presents itself as Mediterranean. The menu was mostly Italian, but not at all a conventional Italian restaurant (I am not sure if any dish had tomato sauce.) We all had the prix fixe three course meal, and the various members of the party (three out of four being vegetarians) had different appetizers, pasta, and entrees. We all enjoyed... More

I have been going to this restaurant since it opened 11 years ago and always wonder why I don't come back more often. They still have the 3 course meal, now $33, but we went for happy hour. Crostini for $1, half priced pastas (dungenous crab tortilli with baby chantrelles and the clams and mussels linguini) and 1/2 carafe of... More

This was our fourth meal here in as many years. Previous experiences were delightful; menu was innovative modern Mediterranean spin, with particular success with pasta, but equally deft with other ingredients. The menu organization was basically the usual starter/entree/dessert structure, offered a la carte, but a remarkable value when ordered as a prix fixe with all three courses. Sadly, about... More

Great spot in the Laurelhurst neighborhood for an elegant bistro-style Italian dinner. We started with a couple of choices from the charcuterie list and one wonderful cheese from the cheese board. We followed that with a fabulous heirloom tomato salad and two delicious pasta dishes featuring Tabla's homemade pastas. Along side we enjoyed an excellent Pinot Noir from the Willamette... More

A friend took me out as I was visiting from out of town. I was underwhelmed. Although they offered gluten free options for the noodle dishes, they only had one kind: Penne noodle, which was very disappointing. Service was ok, not very engaging, not even a smile when we received the food or able to recommend dishes very well. The... More

Wow--very impressed. The crew were so much fun, and talented. Thanks to all of you for the entertaining and tasty meal. We came here because of Portland Dining month and boy did we enjoy it. Sat at the counter and watched them hand make the pasta--doesn't get any fresher than that! Then we watched our dishes being prepared. Couldn't wait... More

I don't think we will go back. I didn't enjoy any of my dishes. The duck was dry. The crab tortellini had zero sauce which made it dry, too. The fig salad was weird. Both my husband and. Felt sick all evening fare eating dinner at Tabla. We do like the atmosphere but there are just too many good restaurants... More

Tabla is a great find. Small and quaint with a open kitchen preparing homemade pasta in front of you. The three course price fix for around $30 is amazing and what earned the five stars. The pastas are great, along with the appetizers. All small portions but high quality. The homemade gelato was great, caramel salted ice gelato, so good.... More

We stumbled across this place after leaving Bamboo Sushi which was overly crowded. Using Tripadvisor we walked a couple of blocks down and found this awesome little place. We tried the 3-course prix fixe dinner. Amazing quality for the value ($30!-this earned them an additional star). Homemade pasta was prepared from their clean open kitchen. Spectacular dessert - their homemade... More
