Good happy hour

I love the fondue here and the pretzels and sausage are great too! We stopped in on a recent Sunday and were pleased to discover that it was all-day happy hour so the appies were $5-6 each. It's a good place to stop for a drink and pub food with the kids in tow.

Nice variety of choices on menu. I chose a roast pork with red cabbage and my husband had cabbage rolls. Both dishes were deeply flavorful. My pork was tender and moist, the cabbage had a nice bite to complement the meat. We'll be back!

We stopped into Gustav's for lunch because we knew what to expect in the way of food and beer. We have been coming to Gustav's and the sister restaurant - Das Rheinlander - for the last 30 years. There appeared to be only two or three waiter's for the entire pub (on Valentine's day?) and service was slow. It took... More

Gustav's is a well known local eatery. It is in 3 or 4 locations around the Portland area. Always very good German food.

The food and beer are good, been there several times and always left pleased. There is outdoor seating but they do not allow dogs.

Gustav's & Der Rheinlander share a facility on NE Sandy. When you come in the Hostess asks you which you prefer to eat in. Not sure why they do it but this time we ate in Der Rheinlander. Set up seems to be about the same as Gustav's. We were there the day after Thanksgiving and it was very crowded.... More

Have been to two of the Gustav's restaurants on several occasions. Wonderful schnitzel and Jaeger schnitzel. Comes with a little helping of their delicious cheese fondue. One portion of apple strudel is easily enough for two people to enjoy! One of the several restaurants in the Portland OR area owned by Chef Horst Mager, who grew up in Germany. The... More

We (party of 5) had dinner, no reservations. We were seated quickly and graciously waited upon. The potato pancakes were just like my grandmother used to make. Our daughter in law who has worked in Germany, found the pretzel and brat just like in the Rhineland. The blackened salmon was perfectly seasoned and the warm potato salad, devine. Portions were... A very wide selection of German beers available on tap. Excellent service at the bar, with ice cold glasses. I had the Jager schnitzel, which is the perfect German comfort food. Somehow they were able to make this, without it being greasy.
