To say I like Lebanese/Middle Eastern food would be an understatement...I love it. And the food at Nicholas on SE Grand did not disappoint. You are in love from the moment the server brings a large pizza size flat bread to munch on. For an appetizer we (3) ordered beef sambisik which were excellent. The main courses were lamb platter,... Edgar made the difference. This capable server made us feel at home and back to the extraordinary experience that Nicolas can be. We arrived early enough to get a table right away, and the restaurant filled up in five minutes, as happens every day. In spite of the crowds waiting to enjoy the food, they don't rush you. Wonderful, healthy,... More

I was in Portland for a conference at the Oregon Convention Center, located in an area with few restaurants within reasonable walking distance. This was a terrific find for lunch. They also serve dinner and colleagues have recommended it for that also. I can't say enough about the food. You sit down and are immediately served a huge warm, hot... More

This small, but enchanting restaurant is a great place to go for a change of pace that tastes great. A couple can order two or three different items and not break your budget. Lebanese food is exotic if you are only use to the basics. Try it, it just might be your fav new taste.

Can't remember how I happened on this place - but since I've first been I've been going back over and over! I call it "crack rice" that they serve on the side to everything - no idea what they put in it but it's addicting. MUST get the kafta (ground beef) kabobs. MUST get the mezza with the pita and... There are good vegetarian options at Nicholas, which has become one of my favorite restaurants anytime that we visit Portland. The food is excellent and is a great value, with plentiful food given for the amount of money. I especially enjoy the vegan mezza. This is a great place to spend time with friends and enjoy a large pita together!

The 15 minute wait for a table in this bustling establishment was enjoyable and entertaining as we watched huge, freshly baked pita bread come out of the fiery, brick oven and get draped over small serving platters placed in the middle of customers' tables. It was fascinating. The Arabian breeze vegan Mezza is a sampler of some of the best... More

The server said he was new, then said they had no sides of their amazing chopped chile concoction because the menu had changed and they weren't offering it anymore. Didn't even check. It's the first time in years that we've had to eat there without this "shatta." It turns out that they do have shatta for the pizza, so he... More

This place looks and feels just like a Lebanese place in Beirut - small, crowded, noisy, fragrant with delicious scents of homemade foods. We loved the hummus and baba, great grape leaves (meat), cnafe an interesting sort of thick version. Kibbe was good, though a bit dry. Nice idea to have the giant pita in the center of the table.... This is small little place that fills up quickly, and people will wait outside in the rain for a seat here. The service is good, they are so nice and willing to help you with anything. The food was good, the bread is brought out hot off the grill....one of my favorite parts. Try it, its worth it. Also the... More
