Affordable, tasty French menu

Dined here on a business trip. The menu, tho' limited, has many nice choices. Their lobster bisque tasted good--if less creamy than expected. The duck confit tasted as great as it's aroma promised and the chocolate souffle' was exceptionally delicious. The dining room has closely packed tables... read more

Le Bouchon has been here for 18 years, but we had never eaten at it! It's very small and reminiscent of a small neighborhood Parisian restaurant. The waitress was extremely attentive and there were quite a few specials to go along with a diverse menu. We shared a pork & chicken pate that was delicate and flavorful, a vibrant beet... More

The dining room has closely packed tables and no sound dampening; so I wouldn't dub it romantic at alll, but... More

Such a pleasant surprise to find one rainy afternoon in Portland. True French food. Classics, Bistro Fare, desserts. We'll return on our next trip to Portland

We ate at Le Bouchon for the first time on Valentine's Day. What a great experience! They had a fixed menu and it was wonderful. The asparagus soup was absolutely amazing. For main course, I had the duck and my husband had the beef. They were both wonderful. When you looked at the plates of those around us, everyone ate... More

Very small but cozy restaurant. Chef within 50 feet of every table. Awesome food. Great service. Cheese plate is insane. Wine selection great. If you do not like sitting super close to others, you will probably not like it here. Trust me, it's worth it!

A first-time dinner at Le Bouchon after having two lunches here, and we're already looking to another return visit. Very well-prepared French classics in an understated, casual setting with a few tables on the sidewalk for warmer weather. We began with a delicate pastry filled with mixed mushrooms and snails in garlic butter; hearty cassoulet and roast duck as entrees... More

We enjoyed our anniversary dinner hear at Le Bouchon. We try to come here when we are in town, first time was nine years ago. The appetizers, the lamb, fish, shell fish right on through to desert. The restaurant is small, the staff the perfect pay you just enough attention without being obtrusive, plus they have a great since of... More

Authentic bistro food and atmosphere. Excelkent price and very reasonable menu. The daily specials are always excellent, especially the cassoulet and snapper.

Although we've dined (and enjoyed) dinner here several times, this was our first lunchtime experience at Le Bouchon. We both had the Lyonnais French Onion soup, which was singularly excellent. My wife enjoyed the chicken breast with cream sauce, and I had a lunch special of porc (served over a very flavorful pasta). Both were very good. We finished with... More

Comments like these make our day. Thank you for sharing your experience with us and everyone else. It sounds like you two really enjoyed everything, from the French Onion soup, to dinner and dessert. I greatly appreciate this nice dose of encouragement, and am looking forward to passing it along to everyone else! Sincerely, Claude, Owner More

We were expecting to be "wowed" by this restaurant, based on the reviews. Unfortunately, that didn't happen. Food was good, but not great. Atmosphere was not intimate, as we thought it might be. It is more like a bistro rather than a romantic french restaurant. The Coquille St Jaques was very good, but entrees were just average. For dessert, the... More

I, too, am disappointed that you weren't "wowed" by your experience here. I'm curious — which main courses did you order? A lot of detailed thought goes into all of the dishes on our menu, and any specific feedback that you have is always appreciated. As far as our atmosphere, we want everyone to feel welcome in our unpretentious setting.... More
