Stylish, delicious Scandinavian Restaurant

Great place for breakfast or lunch. Definitely a different than your run of the mill restaurant. Nice atmosphere, friendly staff and a great selection of delicious food. Our group of 3 had the aebelskeiver, thick cut toast and the Swedish Hash (with butternut squash and brussel sprouts). I cannot... read more

This delicious little restaurant is in a quaint neighborhood in SE Portland. We wanted to try everything on the menu, but I knew I had to try the Lefse (Norwegian potato crepes), a Scandinavian specialty. This dish was amazing, square thin crepes with layers in between of arugula pesto, bacon, horseradish and a perfectly cooked egg on top. My daughter... More

Oh my goodness... Wish I lived in Portland just to eat at this place more!! When we walked in to this stylish restaurant we were warmly greeted and quickly seated. The menu looked so amazing it was hard to decide what to get!! I finally decided on the fruit fritters which comes with sour cream and syrup. So good!! It... More

We come to Portland frequently and enjoy all the breakfast places around the SE Portland area. One that is very different and sure to excite you is Broder's Cafe. We had to wait an hour on a Monday so get there when you are not so hungry and ponder the menu so you know what you want to order. We... More

Cozy and quaint, casual and attentive service. I scarfed down a perfectly cooked lamb burger and sipped on a Sazerac with a hint of Aquavit (a anise, cardamom like liquor). I jabs been here for brunch. as well and it's killer. Check this spot out it's just the right amount of different.

I had another enjoyable meal at Broder when I was in PDX a few weeks ago. I was alone, so I sat at the counter (no wait--yay!) and chatted with the chef. Making æbleskiver is a skill--and he produces 100s of them in any given week. I had Pytt i Panna (Swedish hash) and it was tasty and the eggs... More

Having heard about extremely long lines, we chose to try Broder for a late lunch, around 12:45 on a weekday, and we waited only about 15 minutes. I had the Swedish meatballs, and my husband had the trio of sandwiches with tomato soup. I really enjoyed the meatballs, and thought they had a very genuine Swedish flavor - subtle seasonings,... We went here for a late brunch on a weekend, so it was a bit of a wait to get in to the restaurant, about 10 minutes. Our server was super friendly and informative regarding their akvavit selection (a Scandinavian liquer) and was kind enough to get us a mini flight so we could taste them all. The potato pancakes... A girls weekend in Portland, looking for somewhere new (to us anyway) for a Sunday morning breakfast. We had Broder recommended to us. We arrived at about 9:45 in the morning to a completely packed restaurant. We signed in immediately and settled in for a wait. The restaurant is very small, but it was a nice, summer morning so they... More

Having read how popular this cafe is (and it was Sunday) we went at 0815 (breakfast is served 0800-1500). There were already 5 people there and by the time we left there was only one empty table. We had a wonderful Scandinavia breakfast ... Pytt i Panna a kind of hash with baked eggs with pickled beetroot and walnut bread... More
