Visited here with family on a recommendation and what a treat it was. I had the stump town coffee and burnside bourbon. It is in a very cool part of town
We were visiting Portland and were told by a friend that we should check Salt and Straw out. So we went there on out first night in town. It was awesome! I got the almond brittle with salted ganache! It was very tasty. The girls working helped out a lot and let us try a few flavors before we decided.... More
This was my 2nd time at Salt and Straw. The first time I went I got the Sea Salt with Carmel Ribbon which is rich and great. This time I had the Almond Brittle with Salted Ganache which was even better! I also had the Bourbon Pecan Pie which was amazing. The place is ALWAYS packed so be prepared to... More
It took our family awhile to try Salt and Straw but the ice cream is worth any wait or commute time getting there. I agree with some of the other reviewers, the salted caramel is outstanding especially the seasonal flavor with the added turkey. Salt and Straw is now an added family favorite.
Salt and Straw delivers. Many of the flavors are unusual combinations which work. Makes you wonder what they come up with in their test kitchen that they don't sell. The salted carmel is one of my favorites, which has turkey added for Thanksgiving. If you buy a pint you can go to the front of the line and taste any... More

It sounds mismatched, but what the chef did was take turkey skin and turn it into a salty/sweet brittle. Amazing. If in the area, the ice cream here is a must try. One taste and you'll... More
They definitely have some random flavors but it all works. I like the fact that you can try them before committing to a flavor. My mom loved the lavender, the salted caramel was great and the strawberry tasted like they had picked the strawberries that morning. Great place to cool off.
Just because you can put all kinds of strange stuff into ice cream doesn't mean that you should. Some of the stuff they serve tastes like a bad basket on "Chopped." I guess I'm just a purist. Give me a hot fudge sunday from Moonstruck, NOW you're talkin!
Awesome Ice-cream and on top of that awesome and very friendly Staff.. Must visit place.. I really liked their seasons special and the salted icecream.
I say it is weird only because of the crazy flavor combinations and ingredients - mince meat? turkey? pepper? blue cheese? - but everything we tasted seemed to work out without invoking a gag reflex. Salt & Straw is perfect because it is homemade, small-batch, local, seasonal and full of imagination. They are very friendly and even if the line... More
