We lucked out because I guess there is usually a line out the door so when we saw there was a short line we decided to see what the fuss was about. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They had several unusual ice cream flavors although I can't remember them...I am not super adventurous with my ice cream but... More

Well worth the wait, this is one of the best dessert places that I visited. They have very creative ice cream flavors with ALMOST ALL OF THE CHOICES BEING VEGAN FRIENDLY, INCLUDING THE WAFFLE CONE. The staff is very nice and patient, even with the large crowds. They encourage tasting and they do not rush you through the line. If... More

Home made, artisan recipes, unique and local flavors you can't find anywhere else, and we are talking about ice cream here! Easily the best... The hand made waffle cones top off the experience. Our last visit we brought pints back home with us in a cooler 3 hours away!

I'd put off trying the ice cream here as there was always such a long line. When the line was only at the door Monday morning, I seized the opportunity. I was ready to be wowed! Perhaps it was my choice of flavors but when done, I felt disappointed. Granted, I am not a fancy flavor person. I LOVE a... More

Well worth the wait for this unique and delicious ice cream. Staff willing to provide samples while you waited in line which helped us to select from their unusual flavors. Who would have thought strawberry and black pepper would be a hit? Used to live in this area 40 years ago and it sure has changed! Located in what is... More

Well worth the wait in line to get some ice cream. We visited their store in the SW and the NW and both were fantastic. Flavors very good, employees happy and knowledgable. Overall great visit and would recommend a visit when in Portland. They had the market series on when we were there..bone marrow and smoked cherries, but the coconut... More

Awesome choices with very unique flavors including bone marrow and cherry, strawberry balsamic vinegar, snickerdoodle, etc... My favorite was the Cinnamon Snickerdoodle, blasting with flavor! They offer a tasting tray which I would definitely recommend because even though they give you the option of a small spoonful, a little extra is better ha. Expect to be waiting for about 20-30... Creamy and delicious handmade ice cream. Unusual flavors (carrot and watermelon sherbet) that you can try before you decide, I had Sea Salt with Caramel Ribbons. A great place to take the family.

Queuing round the block for people eager to taste Salt and Straw's fantastic flavours and they didn't disappoint. Sea Salt with Caramel Ribbons was the final choice but Honey Balsamic Strawberry with Cracked Black Pepper came a close second. Really helpful staff offering tasters of as many flavours as were asked for. Staying with my daughter in Portland and Salt... More

I am always intrigued when on TripAdvisor the number one rated restaurant for a city is an ice-cream place. Especially in an awesome food city such as Portland. We were staying by Pioneer Square so it was about a 1.3 mile walk. We combined it with a side visit to Washington Park. I like how the servers meet you in... More
