My wife, son, and daughter-in-law joined me for lunch at Chai Yo on a Monday afternoon. The food was quite good. I had the Fried Rice with tofu which was ordered with medium spice. It was cooked perfectly and it was delicious. Everyone liked their food, as well. Our server was efficient. Ambiance was comfortable. Eat there.

Cute little restaurant homey feel, pleasant waitress, butttt, food horrible. I had a "special" but was so salty you couldn't eat it and the salmon was so fishy it was terrible. Table next to me made same complaint. They did give 15% off, which amounted to the tip, but the one bite of the salmon and all I could do... More

I spent the month of February helping my daughters settle into their new Portland home. We enjoyed meals from this restaurant at least four times during my visit. And each time the food was consistent and awesome! We mostly got take-out, but dined in when another traveling family member met up with us. Since most of us eat Vegan, the... More

We love Thai food, eat it often at home and when traveling in the US (have never been to Thailand), and this was very good. We arrived early, so the charming dining space in the old house was very quiet (much appreciated). The food was nicely prepared -- the special avocado rolls were especially delicious. ( But we do think... More

We had such a good experience here on our last trip to Portland, it was our first choice for a meal this trip. Still great; so good we had take-out a few nights later too. Small home converted to a restuarunt with quiet, attentive service. I've taken several thai cooking classes over the past 20 years and most US thai... More

We ate a delightful meal beginning with spring rolls and a papaya salad, followed by three interesting and delicious entrees, eaten family style. The atmosphere was lovely, service great and the food outstanding!

With a party of 10 we just decided to give this place a try. There was little hope that everyone would be pleased considering all our diverse tastes, not to mention my mom, who is the pickiest eater on Earth, so there was little to lose. As the appetizers arrived there were some happy sounds, and then all of a... More

We were wandering around in the Lloyd Center area, hungry for dinner and saw this place from the sidewalk. I was really excited to try their fishcakes appetizer, but unfortunately they were out of fishcakes. Our friendly, attentive server mentioned the chicken satay appetizer as an alternative and I assented when I learned that I could order us a combo-style... More

Excellent food in comfortable, informal setting. If your party is mixed in regards to hot preferences be sure to ask for the 'spicy tray'; the hot pepper oil is wonderfully hot. The crab pad Thai and the yellow curry were nummy! Great neighborhood restaurant.
