Perfect spot to celebrate a birthday!

My husband, son and I celebrated my birthday at this fabulous restaurant. The service was fantastic! The place was bustling with life and food and drinks were being served with perfect timing. Visited RingSide FH for the first time. I was not impressed. The location is great, but our group was not impressed with the food. We started off with some Truffle Frites with a Crab Hollandaise sauce, Crab Cakes, and Clams. The Frites were good but the Crab Hollandaise was very bland. Tasted like crab mayonnaise. Crab cakes were fairly good... More

Lovely location, lovely ambiance, delicious food. I had clam chowder and 1/2 sandwich; my husband had oysters and a smoked sturgeon open-faced -- best we have had in a very long time. Service impeccable. Great wine selection.

I have to take the time to comment on how great of service we got while eating here. My wife took me for my birthday and this was probably the best service I have ever had in Portland. Every staff member wished me a happy birthday based on my wife mentioning it on our reservation. A card was on the... More

What a wonderful restaurant with a great history. Food was fresh and prepared to perfection. Our server: Nancy Behnke was so attentive to detail and making us feel so special. The local fish ( I had Steelhead Trout) was prepared on a cedar plank and cooked perfectly. My husband had the beef tenderloin and was saying it was one of... More

Four of us dined at this restaurant last night. The restaurant is located upstairs in a nice space that lifts the spirits. The staff is pleasant and helpful. But the food was disappointing. My caesar salad was good but my friend's pear salad was not very colorful or tasty. The cioppino was quite disappointing. The scallops were simply not fresh... More

We went to happy hour. I ordered the Cesar salad. It comes uncut. 4 leaves of Romaine lettuce a few croutons and a small amount of cheese for $4. They bring my husband his $14 fish and chips which was mostly chips. I reminded them I also ordered Calamari and they said it was coming. It did not come so... More

Our daughter and son-in-law treated us to an evening out, starting with dinner at the Ringside Fish House before taking in the "Forever Tango" show at the nearby Schnitzer Concert Hall. Seated in a spacious booth, we started our feast with the Ringside group's fabled onion rings -- the small order was more than enough for us -- perfectly fried... More

It's easy to find excellent food, excellent service, and lovely ambiance in PDX, but it's surprisingly hard to find all three together. My wife and I dined here on a busy but not overly crowded Saturday night and couldn't have asked for more. From the moment the smiling valets swung the front doors open (even though we had no car... Having eaten RingSide's steak many times it was a pleasure to try their fish. I had an oriental style cod that featured a crispy skin and a broth I could have savored on its own. My husband chose Ono and our server prepared him for a change of cooking style which could make the fish a bit drier. He chose... More
