Portland is a frequent destination for may wife and i! We visit 10 or more times in a given year. So, we've had our share of good Portland coffee. Coava was new to us on this trip. We walked across the Hawthorne Bridge from the downtown side to meet the good friend who recommended meeting there. Coava has a converted... More

The quality of coffee is really good. The staff knows their stuff. Not much more needs to be said. I was not an espresso drinking till coming here, had a great Americano and have never looked back.

Nice coffee tasting and roasting room with a sustainable industrial setting. Limited offering of baked goods yet they were very good. Pour overs of Single Origin (SO) coffees and the espresso is also SO i.e. not the normal Brazil blend. The location is light industrial and this converted space is big with a sustainable message of Bamboo products displayed. The... More

I loved this coffee shop. Such an interesting atmosphere. The design of the place was minimalist, modern, tasteful. Actually, so was the coffee. They don't do froofy coffee drinks here. Just real coffee, really good. Had the most wonderful iced latte and couldn't have been more pleased. Wished I had time to sit and enjoy the shop because it really... More

I'm not a cool guy, but I needed to kill some time waiting to pick someone up, so I stopped in. They take making their coffee VERY. Seriously. Had a great individually dripped house cup. Drop in and enjoy!

You can call if whatever you want. This is the best Cafe that I can actually say buy Local for, this is where Real local Coffe drinkers go. It's hidden from Tourist as it's on the East side. Find it. Drink it People.

Have tried multiple types of coffee from Coava through on-line ordering and was happy to visit when in portland. Excellent latte at their brew location. Is minimalist so probably not for everyone. Am unhappy they no longer offer their original stainless steel permanent pour over filter - the reason that I placed my first order with Coava.

Staff are surrounded by bearded folk in tight pants, however they remain friendly and welcoming. Coffee, most importantly, is brisk and as it should be. They could do to offer a food item or two, even just to take the edge off.

A fantastic purveyor of coffee in Portland's Central Eastside. I always stop here when visiting from Seattle. A definite priority if you are into coffee and want to sample some of the best Portland has to offer. Unusual coffee 'tables' , courtesy of the bamboo company that shares the other half of the warehouse-like space.

Coava shares the space with a bamboo woodwork shop so the atmosphere is really cool, with tools and tables in a large environment that is really unusual for a coffee place. Coffee is really good (only if your taste buds didn't get killed by Starbucks) and the best way to enjoy is to come with a friend and chat. Baristas... More
