Ordered: Crispy pork belly, Tasmanian Sea Trout, Chocolate Pudding with Mango & Warm Toasted Almond Cake I've never been a fan of Asian fusion as it never seems to work. I noticed in alot of dishes here there were either alot of Asian ingredients cooked asian style or not. I'm not sure were the fusion went in all the other... More

My wife, my son, and friend joined me for a meal at this excellent restaurant recently. They have a spectacular beet and asparagus salad and a green bean tempura appetizer for starters. The octopus main course is superb, but the steak is also pretty terrific. Dessert was also good.

I really wanted to love Aviary, but unfortunately, it just wasn't for me. My small group ordered the sweetbreads, slow poached egg, beet and asparagus salad, crispy pork belly, octopus, venison, and NY strip steak. Out of those dishes, the poached egg, beet salad, and octopus were quite delicious, while the rest fell flat. The venison and steak were the... More

While visiting Portland recently, we shared a lovely meal with friends at Aviary. The food was modern, fresh and delicious. The decor of the restaurant was a little stark. Some artwork would be nice! Everything we ate was wonderful and service was warm and friendly.

We took my brother visiting from out of town so he could experience the Portland foodie scene. (I'd been to Aviary once before and thought it would be a good choice for that.) The prices are reasonable for the quality of the food. If you like spicy food that hits you over the head, this is not the place for... More

Very enjoyable meal with a collection of dishes unlike anything I've had before. Pig ears are not on too many menus in the US. I had charred octopus served with asparagus , which was great. We had a dish with cauliflower flan which we also enjoyed. Dishes are small and meant to be that way so you can try different... More

My wife returned from a week working out of town and we went straight from the airport to take a walk on Alberta Street without any real plans. I'm not sure how we have missed this place in the past, but the decision to try it for dinner was one of the wisest we've made in a while. When we... More

We went to Aviary for Portland Dining Month and were pleased that there were choices on the PDM menu. It was busy, service was slowed down due to the volume and the industrial decor yielded poor acoustics for conversation. But the food, albeit very rich, was just plain fun to experience. They are innovative at Aviary. That is why you... More

We had a wonderful meal here tonight. The menu consists of dishes primarily meant for sharing. Every dish was inspired, very different and beautifully cooked to meld unusual flavors. Tuna tartare, cauliflower flan, Tasmanian sea bass, tempura green beans, Japanese egg plant. All delicious. Desserts often fall short but not here; the malt chocolate pudding with saffron sauce and the... More

Each item we tried was an exceptional dish. The service was quite good, with an excellent wine and cocktail selection. For the quality of food and service, the prices were surprisingly low. This place is an absolute must-go for the Portland area.
