We were in Portland over the New Years weekend and had the opportunity to sample some of the fare on offer there. Aviary was on a lot of lists so we were eager to give it a try. I have been to the Aviary on several occasions. I wanted to like this place because the idea of it is amazing and their drinks truly are amazing (and so are their bartenders), but every time I've gone I have been so disappointed by their food. Let me start by saying I've had over 10 of their dishes and all... More

The passion and attention to detail that goes into each dish is rarely scene at this price point. A unique & outstanding experience. Hands down the foie gras appetizer is the best bite in Portland.

Everything is their own and everything is beautiful and delicious. Small plates allow for multiple opportunities to sample the variety of tastes. The silken tofu is a pleasurable and satisfying mix of tastes and textures and the crispy pigs ears are exceptionally delicious once you get used to the idea of what you are eating! Cocktail selections are great even... More

We had a thoroughly enjoyable anniversary dinner here. The menu is limited, but the food is creatively and lovingly prepared, and has depth and character. We will return here, and recommend it highly.

This was our second visit and, again, every dish was beautifully presented and tasted wonderful. The server was attentive without hovering. The four of us agreed that prices were reasonable for the quality of the entrees and desserts. Octopus, pork, vegetarian, bread, beers, wine, seasonal fruit dessert ... One could actually identify the ingredients because the dishes were not over-seasoned.... More

Excellent food that excites and surprises. Small plates, intended to share. Lots of great food going on with a mixture of expertly paired sauces and accompanying complimentary flavors Your mouth will thank you.

We had dinner here to celebrate sibling's 50th birthday. We were a party of eight mostly from out of town. The restaurant itself was unimpressive, has a casual vibe but offered creative & fresh gourmet food. We ordered many of the items on the menu, passed them around for a sampling of each. The servings are smaller than your normal... More

Had appetizers and happy hour drinks and ended up hanging out for almost 3 hours. Just a really cool, eclectic place. Almost not eclectic in Portland because there seem to be so many great places like this. This whole Alberta neighborhood is brimming with great places.

extremely creative and delicate handling of a diverse range of flavors, impressive range of influences, mostly Asian but also local, with enough lightness of spirit not to come across as pretentious. standouts were the prawns, beet and lemongrass soup - truly inspired- and sole brioche. we didn't like the tofu - too much going on- but otherwise everything was just...
