Description: Here is his facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Frying-Scotsman-Portland/135370609444 This is a foodcart, so it might not qualify for your purposes, but this was the best Fish and Chips I have ever had. And I've had fish and chips is over 12 counties. I was so impressed, I had to try to get him listed here.

I love Portland's food carts and am always trying to discover the great ones. A 2013 article suggested that The Frying Scotsman was one of the top 21 food carts in the city, so I checked it out. I don't agree. The French fries are terrible, lumps of potato with no seasoning at all. I ordered the cod upon the... More

So ordered my good and sat waiting all seemed ok until my fiancée sees a member of staff was behind the counter eating. He was asked to put a roll in and so licked his fingers and then picked his nose before putting the roll in the toaster. Wouldn't want to be eating that roll tonight. For me that's unforgivable... If traveling through Portland, you MUST stop at this fish and chips stand., He has multiple types of fish, my favorites being Red Snapper and Haddock. Absolutely delicious. He makes his own tartar sauce to go with it! Every time I'm in Portland, I make sure to stop by. You can get a 2 piece order or 4 piece order.... More

The Frying Scotsman (from Ardrossan, Ayrshire) produces beautifully-cooked fish and chips in the confines of a small trailer in the pod of food carts at 9th and Alder. Already a chef when he moved to the US, he used his skills to introduce Americans to how fish and chips should really be served: cooked to order, with a thin coating... More

Having been to England and tried several different traditional fish and chip places, I was blown away to discover that this food cart in Portland beat out all the other places I had been to!!! Incredible. Try it! Try it! Try it!

This wonderful food cart in downtown Portland, OR has the best fish and chips I've ever had in my life! The owner frys them upon order - they're not pre-made and sitting in a warmer. It's fun conversing with the owner while waiting for your meal! I went back again the next day for more, but the cart had closed... More

You don't have to go looking for the best fish n chips, when it's all here and ready for the taking, at this lil cart in downtown PDX. I recommend the haddock n chips for the best deal ($9.00). The full size comes with 2 crispy pieces of golden fried goodness, along with traditional English style "chips" (that's the term... More

Used to be top quality with an excellent batter and fish, but fish quality has definitely slipped enough to no longer be a choice.

You really can't go wrong with most of the food trucks around Portland. It's quite the place to satisfy whatever taste you may be searching for...and if you happen to be searching after a drinking few locally brewed beers, then you have to stop at The Frying Scotsman. Simply put, this small food truck has great fish n chips. You... More

The best fish and chips I have had. We decided on the Cod, because we were not sure about haddock. The fish was perfectly cooked and the batter fried up pefectly. Chips great as well. Our Son, loved it and wanted more. This is a must stop if trying out the Portland Food Carts. Friendly service and answered all my... More
