Great craft bar drinks in cool Portland restaurant setting

If you want great cocktails that are custom in a cool downtown Portland setting, Kask is your place. It has a hip vibe and the bar and wait staff are exceptional! A do not miss for a great drink or dinner with friends while in Portland.

I have to say, I love my german food and I love my german beer! This place makes some of the best dishes, that make me want to go back again and again! There are a few dishes on there that I could add to my "if I die this would be my last meal menu!" It is that good!... More

Our friends in Austin, Texas told us about Gruner's in Portland and that was a couple of years ago. (Where have I been???) Since then we have eaten there countless times. The place rocks ... service is efficient and the food is so good I sometimes get something to go for dinner after having lunch. Their house-made Bratwurst and Kraut... More

There are burgers and then there are amazing burgers. Bruner's is the best burger in Portland, and possibly in the NW. The bun alone is worth the price ,add to that the great burger, wonderful pickled onions and a pickle and you have an experience worth remembering. I venture to say that after eating the, burger, you, will use it as a "yardstick... More

We enjoyed our meal at Grüner, I was so looking forward coming from Switzerland and being German I just couldn't wait to get some food 'from home'. The service was good and the wine list was wonderful!! Some of the flavors we a bit unexpected but were good, so it wasn't as traditional as I expected but took the goodness... More

We went to Kask first for a cocktail. Cocktails were delicious but service is a little slow. Decided at the last minute to eat at Gruner. Put our name in and enjoyed our cocktail. They come to the bar to get you. The good was good at Gruner, my sausage was a bit dried out but all the other items... More

My husband and I visited this restaurant during our stay in Portland in January. We were pleasantly surprised that their liquor selection included Becherovka. The service was excellent and so were the main courses and desserts. The only thing that I wish they had was a better variety of wine by glass - no malbec or merlot to go with... More

Really nice to see a restaurant like this, though Portland is a place where I would expect it. There is a good selection of real alpine dishes and the wine list is quite representative of the whole alpine region with Austrian, German, Italian and French offerings, though wine prices are a bit steep.

Went to Gruner for the first time last night, and am glad I went, but there are a few things about the place that could use some attention. Gruner is visually appealing to those seeking the sleek, modern Berlin or Frankfurt style - it is attached to a German bar named "Kask". Tempted by an on-line menu that indicated one... More

We took advantage of a Gruner gift card so we stopped in for dinner on a Friday night. I will be right up front - the place is very cramped, there is no privacy and it is very loud. The food was very good - but it took close to an hour to receive it. If we visit again, it... More
