Great Food with an 'upscale' twist...! At every turn there was a great surprise with fresh ingredients and an obviously classically trained chef in the kitchen. The Bratwurst is made in-house, the mustard was made in-house, and the potatoes were almost a perfect tourneau...! I was very impressed with the quality and training of this Chef... If you like good... More

All I can say is that it was a good thing I went with a close friend I hadn't seen in awhile. We had lots of catching up to do so the super slow service wasn't completely frustrating. We enjoyed the ambience, the menu was interesting and the food was good but one poor waiter looked to be taking care... More

My husband and I were looking for lunch in the area and stumbled across Gruner. I'm a sucker for some spaetzle, but it was clear from the aesthetic of the place that we wouldn't be getting your stereotypical German fare here. I did, in fact, have the spaetzle, which had veggies, mushrooms, and ham in it, and I loved it... More

Went with a group after work. Very average meal, but I was the only vegetarian in the group. If you are a vegetarian you really should look elsewhere - the salad was underwhelming and the appetizers I had were tasteless (dumplings). Best thing I ate that night was the pretzel roll. Even the Almond Cake with Blueberries was disappointing.

Great food and a good drink selection; outdoor seating is available. The sausage is excellent and so was the spaetzle.

You simply can't go wrong with the staples such as the tarte flambee, the 'Gruner' salad, the smashed fried fingerling potatoes and the choucroute garnie. These are fabulous tasting dishes. In addition, we had a fresh English pea soup. Bravo! I can't say if you try different dishes that the quality or flavor might not drop off. These are so... More

Dined at Gruner because good restaurant friends recommended. Rarely am I disappointed but Gruner did not do it for me. Most likely it was the menu itself. I found the wine list lacking, the food not mesmerizing. This is a restaurant that in my opinion would benefit from a chefs tasting menu with wine pairings. He lack of familiarity of... More

We actually went to KASK, the tiny saloon next door to Gruener which is owned by the same people. It was a Friday evening, and we were trying to find someplace to go to enjoy a few drinks and just chat. This place is great! It is dimly lit inside, but very clean and modern, with amazing chalk drawings on... More

You had better have a reservation. This was so relaxing - nice intimate atmosphere. We had reservations very early and when we arrived I bet there was less than 10% of the tables occupied - I had an uh oh moment thinking that this might not turn out so well. WOW was I mistaken. The food and presentation were wonderful.... More

German/Swiss/European fusion, call it what you want -- it's delicious! Fresh flavors, great service and a nice wine list, make it an excellent spot for dinner.
