Went with a group after work. Very average meal, but I was the only vegetarian in the group. If you are a vegetarian you really should look elsewhere - the salad was underwhelming and the appetizers I had were tasteless (dumplings). Best thing I ate that night was the pretzel roll. Even the Almond Cake with Blueberries was disappointing.

Great food and a good drink selection; outdoor seating is available. The sausage is excellent and so was the spaetzle.

You simply can't go wrong with the staples such as the tarte flambee, the 'Gruner' salad, the smashed fried fingerling potatoes and the choucroute garnie. These are fabulous tasting dishes. In addition, we had a fresh English pea soup. Bravo! I can't say if you try different dishes that the quality or flavor might not drop off. These are so... More

Dined at Gruner because good restaurant friends recommended. Rarely am I disappointed but Gruner did not do it for me. Most likely it was the menu itself. I found the wine list lacking, the food not mesmerizing. This is a restaurant that in my opinion would benefit from a chefs tasting menu with wine pairings. He lack of familiarity of... More

We actually went to KASK, the tiny saloon next door to Gruener which is owned by the same people. It was a Friday evening, and we were trying to find someplace to go to enjoy a few drinks and just chat. This place is great! It is dimly lit inside, but very clean and modern, with amazing chalk drawings on... More

You had better have a reservation. This was so relaxing - nice intimate atmosphere. We had reservations very early and when we arrived I bet there was less than 10% of the tables occupied - I had an uh oh moment thinking that this might not turn out so well. WOW was I mistaken. The food and presentation were wonderful.... More

German/Swiss/European fusion, call it what you want -- it's delicious! Fresh flavors, great service and a nice wine list, make it an excellent spot for dinner.

Putting a contemporary spin on Germanic/ Austrian/Swiss food is a challenge that Gruner meets well. The stylish, modern decor sets the mood and the food is excellent, starting with appetizers of lightly friend polenta wrapped around melting raclette (sp?), salad, and delicate herbed dumplings, followed by trout in an ambrosial cream sauce.

Started with house rolls --- several slices of a fresh, moist dark bread and pretzel roll. Moved on to fois gras bouchon. Fabulous! Three slices about the size of a silver dollar served with toast point, quince paste and lightly pickled sweet cabbage. Shared the charcuterie plate --- two kinds of sausages, several slices of pork tenderloin, some port belly... More

Went on a Saturday evening with a reservation. Arrived early, sat promptly. Long bench seating not our preference but tables a decently separated. We checked out the wine list before hand and there is only one white and one red at $40, the remainder all higher. We chose to bring our own and pay the $20 corkage. For starter we... More
