Out of the Way, But Worth the Trip

Thank goodness for GPS. Would have never found this spot without it. Great little restaurant. I had their special Jagerschnitzel. Very tasty and tender. The salad before the main dish was made with fresh ingredients and a great house dressing. Service was very attentive. Give it a try!

Delectable Swiss food, warm efficient service and a relaxing atmosphere. Rösti, spätzli, schnitzels, lovely salads. We were delighted. But what makes it so authentic? Owner and chef Jennie Wyss explained. Her inspiration and mentor has been her Swiss father, Martin Wyss, a distinguished restaurant owner in Hawaii for many years. Jennie has brought her skill and knowledge to Portland. Hurray!

One of the best places in Portland. We've eaten here three times, and have never been disappointed. The service is top notch, and food Swiss.

I am always looking for new to me restaurants. For my birthday this year, I chose Swiss Hibiscus. My fiancé made a reservation for Friday night. All week we were looking forward to trying the fondue, schnitzel and bratwurst. I was also looking forward to trying the dressing that everyone raves about. We arrived on Friday evening and were greeted... More

In my first review of Swiss Hibiscus, I praised everything about the restaurant. On a return trip to Portland to visit my son last month, we were looking forward to a second meal at this eatery. My son made a reservation in the afternoon for that evening, but, upon arriving at Swiss Hibiscus, the hostess insisted the reservation was for... More

Started the meal for our party of six with the cheese fondue. Very tasty and a fun experience. All of our entrees were delicious and I especially liked my Swiss onion soup. One of the best onion soups I've ever had. Weinersnitchel, sauerbraten, cassoulet with duck and sausage were all great. A profiterole to share for dessert topped off our... More

A group of us attended a family party at Hibiscus. There was something that appealed to each person's taste. The staff was attentive, the location was easy. There was on-street parking.

We came here based on positive reviews, and we weren't disappointed! We opted to sit outside, which I would recommend. The wait staff was friendly and attentive, and we enjoyed all of the food we ordered. Our favorites were the Swiss Fondue (great for sharing), the beef stroganoff, and Emanuel? I have never been to a Swiss restaurant - and... More

We have been to Switzerland, and enjoyed the food served by numerous Swiss restaurants. Sad to comment, that this restaurant hardly represents the best in Swiss cuisine. Most of the dishes are deep-fried breaded pork or chicken with a very a heavy gravy on top. In all candor, nothing exciting, nor worth returning for the experience.

I must say, for this place to be rated #1 on trip advisor it did not meet my expectations. The food was average at best. The restaurant is very small with only 7 tables inside and just 4 more outside. The servers are very welcoming and kind. However, I wouldn't eat here again, and I think there are better options...
