Always helpful, they add to the experience with their humor and attentiveness. Expect expert advice on the modest, but solid wine list. We stopped in after being turned away from Ox with their two hour wait. We were promptly seated and both of us had a glass of Pinot Gris. Good wine and nice atmosphere. The menu was explained to us in great detail. We took the recommended cheese and meat plate, salad, broccoli plate and the trout. The last two were... More

Very, very small place but the food was large, (in flavor and presentation) sat at the little bar and had a good time with great food. Staff was not the most friendly but had a great conversation with our kids. They cook everything in a wood fired oven. Our kids have been back a couple of times.

This is a special place with heat powered by a brick oven. The decor is wonderful. You are surrounded by wood for the fire and eat super fresh food. This is truly reflective of the Pacific Northwest. From what our helpful waiter told us, everything is prepared in-house, all the sauces and pickles and the cured meats (the bacon is... More

We were looking forward to this well reviewed restaurant for its craft food reputation...We went for brunch and ordered the migas. What was served to us consisted of scrambled eggs over cheap tortilla chips (definitely not house made) with a blob of what looked like Costco guacamole and then splashed with Tapatio! It was $14 for the tiny portion; most... More

Great I'm beyond's in this little restaurant talked off the street. I had a halibut on trade and it was one of the best I've ever had. The salad was so so fresh.

I have resisted going to this restaurant for some time now even though I live very close by. In my mind I had set it aside as just another Portland restaurant that gets a lot of attention without really delivering. Well, I finally gave in. I went on a Monday night and was a bit thrown off by the fact... More

Went to Ned Ludd ' s the other night & was pleasantly surprised by the space - very unlike most Portland restaurants. It's fairly small & cozy. You can watch the chef cook everything in the brick "oven"-it's like watching someone grill outside. The bartender was really nice & helpful. Menu is small but very well thought out. Prices are... My wife and I had dinner there Saturday January 31. My meal was excellent while her's was not so good. I had pork belly which was of course incredibly tender and tasty buy my wife had the trout. The actual fish itself was fine but the salad that was basically dumped over the top of it was a odd combination... More

On our annual trip to Portland to visit our daughter this past June, my wife and I took her to Ned Ludd for dinner one evening. It is a funky looking place, very Portlandia. We were seated in a corner of the restaurant the farthest away from the kitchen area. We started off with the chef's charcuterie and cheese plate... More
