A Thrifty Delicious Surprise

Although we live close by, we had never been to this tiny little spot, nestled slightly below ground level. We were looking for tasty food, but did not need a hipster joint, nor a pretentious, precious meal. Four of us had a delightful experience. The prosciutto/mozarella panini, the... read more

I've walked by Petisco many times but I've never stopped in. I'm glad I did! It's a lively cafe and given today's sunshine...all out door tables were taken and tables inside were hard to come by. I sat inside and relished the chicken salad. Wow! Most of the patrons ordered a variety of sandwiches. I'll return. The food is fresh... More

I normally don't think of Italian food as spicey (perhaps my lack of knowledge) other than using red pepper flakes on stuff, but what a delicious surprise at Petisco! Went there and ordered the Al Patsor pork stew with pineapple and avocado wondering what that combo could taste like. I was told the sweet pineapple would help mellow the heat... More

This small Italian restaurant is a true gem in our neighborhood. Their cuisine is always tasty, the service impeccable and the ambiance friendly and welcoming. We eat here often.

This unpretentious small cafe is always a delight. This morning we tried it for a Saturday breakfast and were once again impressed by the quality of food and attentive service. We both had dropped eggs on corned beef hash that was absolutely delicious. The hash is made to order so when I didn't want green pepper in mine it was... More

Delicious hot soup on a brisk sunny Portland day. We must admit the aromas magically called us and drew us in. Hospitality and graciousness and service as plentiful as one could want. Creamy potato curry soup , tasty with a little bite to it, served with French style thin toasted bread. Delious and this is a must return. Highly recommend.

We went here for dinner before going to a concert. The place is very small but not crowded or cramped feeling. When we were there, the only two persons working we saw were the chef and our server. Sunday's include half off bottles of wine, a real bargain. We started with the petisco platter, an antipasto plate with cheese, meat,... More

We had dinner here one Saturday night while visiting a friend in Portland. She had said it was one of her favorite restaurants, so I had high expectations. I had a couple of glasses of white wine, which weren't memorable. Everyone started with a cup of onion soup, which I thought tasted too sweet. My entree was salmon over kale... More

We have been trying to get here for the longest time. Really happy we were able to make it in. Got a couple drinks, the sangria was really tasty. Ordered the french onion soup. It was superior. One of the best I have ever tried. Hubby ordered the ravioli, I got the gnocchi. Wow. Both fantastic. Sauces were excellent. We... More

We arrived in Portland at our hotel around 3:00pm - the time when all cafe's and restaurants are closed for their afternoon break. Luckily we stumbled upon Petisco in the nick of time before hunger turned us into grumpy monsters. Our waiter was perfect, the sandwiches were all $6 during happy hour (when we happened to be there), and the... More
