Urban Farmer redefines the modern steakhouse with an emphasis on Northwest, sustainable ingredients and simple, straightforward preparations within a farmer chic environment. The menu honors national and local culinary traditions sourcing ingredients from some of the Northwest’s finest eco-friendly producers like Sudan Farms, Wooden Bridge, Nicky Farms, and Cattail Creek. Open for breakfast, lunch, dinner, weekend brunch and happy hour, Urban Farmer remains a reliable and approachable destination amidst Portland’s bustling food scene.Designer David Ashen of D-ASH Design in New York created a unique restaurant space within the 8th floor atrium lobby of the Nines Hotel. The space makes use of organic, reclaimed and modern materials such as a 20-foot communal table sourced from an old-growth Douglas Fir. The spacious “Deck” captures the light-hearted feel of outdoor dining and is accented by a field of wheat grass in the center of the room. A video installation by one of Portland’s favorite experimental artists, Matt McCormick, rolls stunning images of the city’s rural and urban landscapes. The “Pantry” offers an intimate setting with walls of steel and reclaimed timber, as well as shelves stacked with vibrant jars of pickled fruits and vegetables. The Library , adjacent to Urban Farmer in the lobby, is the ideal venue for guests to host private parties, play a game of pool or enjoy a quiet cocktail.

Great Food in Relaxing Setting

The lobster and seafood appetizer was amazing. I wish I had ordered two and just had that! Our steaks were great. Desserts weren't that good but the dinner more than made up for it. Drinks were strong and good, too. Very quiet and kid friendly.

Excellent service and nicely decorated in open space area in hotel. Our meal was tasty, but our steak was a little tough.

Coming from Colorado we had a seafood jones. Any and all seafood. I've eaten plenty of salmon in my life but my entrée was exceptional. The full natural flavor of it came clearly through, yet it was atop a puree of mild root vegetable with lightly sautéed grapes and olives. The separate yet complementary flavors made for a memorable dish.... More

Excellent location at The Nines Hotel. The menu, food, bar, décor, is all wonderful. We brought friends visiting from out of State, and they were quite impressed. This place never disappoints.

Urban Farmer is a gem that all should discover when in Portland! The food is great - Happy Hour is especially fun with $5 and $6 sliders, fries, and other good eats along with delightful cocktails and great wines! The restaurant is located on the 8th floor of The Nines and has a beautiful atrium that gives the illusion of... More

Went here for brunch. It's located in a hotel's atrium so it's pretty amazing so far. The portions are nice a big and filling. We heard about their blood Mary bar, so we got in. It however was a little disappointing, they mentioned having a wide range of pickled vegetables however their selection was small, but they did offer two... More

Innovative choice serving all day. The menu is regional with locally produced fare. We really enjoyed late nights - happy hour and breakfast. It is on the 8th floor of the Nines hotel and convenient for guests but perhaps a little strange for outsiders. The menu was very pricey and service was a little poorly timed. We were hotel guests,... More

I think it's overpriced considering you're eating inside a hotel with no view, but service is good and the food is good. It just doesn't quite justify the price even if everything is local, fresh, delicious, and super trendy. Don't miss their cheese cart. It's good for a business gathering. I recommend reservations or go at happy hour and eat... More

Hi RWAJ08, Thanks so much for taking the time to provide us feedback on your dining experience at Urban Farmer! We do offer the freshest, local and sustainable products available in the northwest, straight from our local farmer. This can, in some instances, increase the price but also greatly increases the quality of food. We do always offer breakfast, lunch... More

I will start by saying that this restaurant cranked out a business lunch for my team in 45 minutes - which was perfect. The food here is always tasty, though next time I will stay away from the lobster salad sandwich. It's good but nothing like a real New England lobster roll. Great atmosphere and service all around.
