6/23 - intimidation started when our friend was going to be late, since serving will not start until everyone is seated. so we were ignored until she arrived. They did not asked if we wanted a drink while we waited. $20 lost opportunity. Flagged down staff to order drinks. They were aloof not busy. While enjoying the cold drinks wife... More

DOC is a small, intimate, sexy restaurant on NE 30th "Restaurant Row" in Portland. You enter through the kitchen, which is part of the dining room. Owner Dayna McErlean has designed the interior simply and beautifully with black chandeliers, custard walls and original art from Elizabeth Leach Gallery. The chefs create stunning dishes in a small kitchen, without noise and... More

Italian-based cuisine, featuring local/regional ingredients, and the best Italian wine list in Portland; this is a consistent, white-tablecloth small restaurant that never fails. We have been going here for special occasions for several years and the food and service never disappoints! Although it is small - you walk through the tiny kitchen to get to the dining area - you... I was worried about going to DOC since becoming a Paleo/Primal eater (no grains means no pasta, not even the gluten free kind that have become so popular). I went to meet up with friends & was happily surprised to discover an excellent steak with a salad which is a perfect meal for me. They do such a good job... More

Everything at this place was hit or miss. The service was downright rude at times to great. Some of the dishes were not that great to amazing. We got the tasting menu and perhaps that was the problem. It started with the oysters, which were actually good. The only problem is that they were very small. Now, I know that... More

We like to find restaurants not besieged by tourists and this fit the bill. Small intimate dining room with wonderful personal attention. Quite enjoyable to watch our dinners prepared in front of us - an inspiration for us "average" meal preparers. A wonderful selection of wines which the staff are very well informed about and provide excellent advice on choices.... More

As other reviewers have stated, you enter the restaurant through the kitchen. We had a great seat to see them prepare our dishes. We selected the set menu with the wine pairing. Each dish was a beautiful presentation of locally grown produce and meats. Very fresh and well balanced with the delicious wines. Although not cheap, it was a good... More

We went on our 20th anniversary, for special dinner, and were pleased in nearly every regard. We were seated immediately next to the kitchen, a request I'll make if we go again. We got to see the well-oiled machine that is the staff here make their magic on the food they serve. We each had three courses, and shared a... More

This is a great spot for the adventurous diner. Interesting menu with a few items I have never heard of or tasted . However, the food was delicious from start to finish. Since it is limited seating and there are two seatings an evening, if you choose the early seating as we did, this is not an experience that will... More
