Wonderful place for a date

We had one of the best Italian meals paired with a beautiful selection of wines. The wait staff was impressive with their knowledge of the food and wine and the overall experience was great. Both my wife and I left with our appetites quenched and wanting to return. The only little downside was the... read more

We had one of the best Italian meals paired with a beautiful selection of wines. The wait staff was impressive with their knowledge of the food and wine and the overall experience was great. What a phenomenal experience! We did the 6 course tasting menu and added 2 dishes. This small restaurant (26 seats) has an open kitchen you actually walk through to the tables. Watching the chef prepare your dishes was definitely an added bonus. I can't believe the chef was only 24!!! This kid is headed to Michelin stardom for sure!!! The... More

This was probably the most quirky, unique, fun restaurant I have ever dined in. Narrow front entry actually passes you through the kitchen and dishwashing areas to an area of nicely set tables with linen tablecloths and nice silverware. (The bar is adjacent next door). The décor is contemporary Italian art. This is not your traditional spaghetti place where you... More

We arrived at DOC with great expectations having heard so much about it. The prix fixe sex course menu was intriquing and the the sommelier knowledgeable. Unfortunately our server, who also appeared to be the maitre d, was brusque and short with our group. She replaced our settings without finesse seemingly throwing flatware and dropping settings onto our table. When... More

My husband and I are from Vancouver, Canada, and were celebrating our first wedding anniversary in Portland and went to Doc for our "anniversary dinner". The experience was wonderful. The food was absolutely delicious and the portions were ample and classy. We indulged in the tasting menu and the wine pairing was very well done. We found the wine selection... More

The restaurant is located in a nice neighborhood in Portland and it is like coming into a friend's home through the kitchen. As you enter the stove is too your right and the stove your left. A quirky set up. From the ceiling are hanging black chandeliers. The room is very intimate. For the kitchen to serve the number of... More

This is the kind of place you have in mind when you think about great local food in Portland. DOC is small, intimate and friendly. You'll need to walk through the kitchen as you enter from the street. The menu changes every week based on what is local and fresh. But some items make regular appearances. We shared a dozen... Very nice but quite pricy. I love the concept, entrance through the kitchen, great friendly stuff, nice wines. And the stuff knows their wines. Food was also good, some great, some just good. Will come back.

What a special evening! We stretched for the tasting menu, and we are so glad that we did. The setting is intimate, relaxed, warm, and comfortable. The service is impeccable. Dishes arrive perfectly timed, along with a perfectly matched wine. The brief explanations of dishes and wines are interesting and fun. The tasting menu lists two to five items for... More

Visited with friends for a belated birthday outing and had the most fantastic time. We opted for the tasting menu which was paired with wine and consisted of 6 courses with shared plates. I did think it was a little pricey, but that said, when I left I said to the waiter that we all had one of the most... More
