Firehouse - great 3 course dinner option & consistent service

We chose not to make a reservation knowing we would enjoy a late dinner on a Wednesday evening, but we didn’t realize it was Portland Dining Month so there was a slight wait. Worth it. We selected the three course meal which Firehouse offers daily, not limited to Portland Dining month. The only... read more

Great neighborhood gem and one of the finest artisan pizza shops in Portland (where the competition is fierce). Great atmosphere for enjoyable dinner conversation whether romantic or with friends. Nice wine list. For those wishing to wander outside the pizza choices, the appetizer and share plates are creative and fun while the rotisserie chicken is easily one of the best... More

I love puns. As such, I instantly liked the Firehouse when I learned that the restaurants theme is wood-fire grilled food sold out of a decommissioned Portland city firehouse. How awesome is that! The environs are great and very pleasant - but a bit more about that further into my review. Now for the dining experience. For the food -... More

We had a beet and a fried broccoli appetizer, magaret pizza, roasted chicken and meat balls. We enjoyed all of them. The house red wine by the glass was pleasant. We had the earl gray ice cream dessert and a salted caramel dessert. Not being someone who ever adds salt to my meals, I felt the salted caramel dessert too... More

Well unlike some other reviews, we a very good meal and a nice time. We had excellent service on a very busy Valentine's Day evening. The chicken entree was fantastic and the desert, lemon polenta cake was light, just sweet enough, and had a very nice fennel "candy" topping. To my taste some excellent wine and beer choices. The service... More

We came here because the food was well-reviewed and it didn't disappoint. However, we had a crummy table in a back room even though we had a reservation. The action is at or near the bar--we're going there next time.

We had high hopes for this place as it was recommended by one of our foodie friends. But from the beginning to end, everything was just too salty. Yikes, everything from the salad, pizza, and meatballs. Not sure what happened that night. Later we were told, he was recommending the Firehouse in NW. Oops, don't make the same mistake.

After reading the good reviews we decided to give it a try. The building itself is cute but the restaurant layout is odd and chopped up. We only saw two parts of the dining room but saw stairs and not sure if there was more seating upstairs. We were seated quickly and the hostess was friendly enough but acted overwhelmed.... More

In general an evening at Firehouse is an evening well spent, and tonight was no different: The meatballs were delicious as always; the roasted cauliflower and mussels are our traditional favorites as appetizers; salads are always fresh and tasty (tonight's was Mike's winter greens with Humboldt Fog, currants, hazelnuts and red wine vinaigrette.) On the other hand, an unexpected disappointment... More

The Firehouse is located in an old firehouse. There are not many tables so reservations seem important. This is a trendy and yet quaint spot. The restaurant leans mostly towards Italian fare. We had the fried cauliflower with lemon creme fraiche as an appetizer which was delicious. I had the homemade pasta with the house made sausage which was tasty... More
