Food influenced by southern Italy

Firehouse uses locally sourced fresh food. They say that a lot in Portland, the food doesn't always taste like it. IMO Firehouse can lay claim to the statement after our meal tonight. This place is an old converted firehouse which lends itself to quite an interesting ambience. The Hanger steak entree was a hit with our group. A very nice option I the "3 course dinner" which gives you an appetizer, salad and entree. The roasted broccoli is great starter

We were recommended this restaurant by a work colleague who lives in Portland. The food was excellent. We got a nice private room upstairs for a group of 14 of us. But it was very noisy (hard floor and walls created echo) which was tiring and meant could only talk to 1-2 people at a time.

We needed a quick bite on a rainy Sunday night in NE Portland and were seated right away on the condition we be done in an hour or so for an incoming reservation so it was a win/win. We had cocktails, wine, appetizers, pizza and a dessert all delivered by very good servers who never made us felt rushed. Appetizers... More

The ambiance is great. The service is great. The salad and appetizers are good. The wood fired pizza sounds great, but was executed poorly. The entire restaurant was smoky when we entered and our clothes smelled smoky when we left. I'm not sure if they had a new pizza chef that didn't know how to use the oven or if... More

We met two of our friends here for dinner and we were all super impressed with the great food and service at this place. It's not a huge space, but it's very cozy and warm with excellent food choices and beer/wine selections. Three of us had the steak, as was recommended by our very beautiful and helpful server, Estefy, and... More

My husband and I were visiting our son and daughter in Portland, and made reservation at Firehouse on a Saturday night at 7pm. We'd had a large lunch, so just wanted a delicious minimal dinner. Firehouse was perfect! We were seated immediately, served with delicious wine that was well priced, ordered fried olives for an appetizer, that were beautifully stuffed,... More

Went there with a couple friends. Reservation was made and we were seated immediately. Pretty small space so you're really close to neighbors but good thing is you get to see more plates. We ordered the three app special, aracini balls, bruschetta and fried cauliflower with a lemon creme fraiche. The three rice balls were very nice, creamy, a bit... More

We went on nice warm summer night, sat on the outside patio. Great ambience on the patio overlooking the garden. The dining room is really cozy and inviting, great place to be on a cold rainy portland night. We had the heirloom tomatoes and watermelon salad and beet salad and their amazing pizza. The staff are amazing and friendly. Go... More

The food was generally tasty. We had a beet and hazelnut appetizer, which was unique and satisfying. The pizzas were too salty. The trout, served on a skillet with sliced fennel and onions, was a standout. All of this, though, was overshadowed by a 25-30 minute wait between appetizers being cleared and main courses being served, with no explanation or... More
