Tiny little diner with huge taste. Fantastic, authentic cajun, with friendly family atmosphere. Sweet tea is done right and is a not-to-be missed. Worth the drive to Hayden Island, and has a great view as well of the marina. more

I am in north Portland frequently and just found Norma’s this fall. It’s located within easy walking distance of two hotels and offers a great alternative to hotel food or the local fast food offerings. The service was quick and its small size makes it perfect to meet new friends and adds to the atmosphere. The food is traditional Cajun... more

We dined here in September 2009 and will be back everytime we are in town. Bruce and Norma are great hosts and make this little place so homey and friendly. Greta food from Norma and Bruce is a real kick. He keeps you laughing and the food coming. A real jem with a great view of the river. I little... more

At first my wife was reluctant to enter this place because it is small like a whole in the wall and no one was there. After we ordered the following dishes such as Southern Fried Chicken, Pull Pork sandwich, BBQ ribs, and Jambalaya Rice. The coleslaw was excellent, the Fried Chicken was one of the best I have tried, and... more

Was lucky enough to discover this quaint restaurant in Jantzen Beach on a morning walk. The owners Bruce and Norma invited me in as they were opening up and just the good food aroma is enough make you want to sit down immediately and order something! The atmosphere is warm and everywhere on the walls and counters is something interesting... more

First thing I noticed was the warm, inviting atmosphere that just makes you feel good. The customer service matches that sentiment and the food has a real home made goodness that tastes as good as the place feels. more

Found Norma's Kitchen online while searching 'Portland BBQ'...turned out to be right up the road from our hotel so we knew we'd be checking it out. It's easy to miss since it's a small place, so if you go just look across the street from the Safeway and you'll find it. Right as we stepped in, the 'man of the... more

I have had the pleasure (and I mean PLEASURE!) of being a guest/customer at Norma's Kitcxhen numerous times now. I try something different each time and am yet to be disappointed by any menu items! The Gumbo is to die for! (try it with corn bread, a must). Expect a small crowd but you wont have to wait long for... more

My wife & I stumbled upon Norma's Kitchen last summer. Wow! What a great place! Not only was the food incredible (oh... and Norma's secret tea...my favorite), but Bruce and Norma made us feel so incredibly welcome. You can't say enough about their "southern hospitality". Great food, cute atmosphere & the best customer service in town. Give it a shot... more
