Description: Fusing a distinct Northwest and classic Scottish Pub feel, this Pearl District destination has become a convivial gathering spot of beer and food lovers since its 2008 opening. The brew pub's 18 taps feature Deschutes mainstays plus a selection of seasonal and experimental beers developed and brewed on site exclusively for the Portland pub by brewer Ben Kehs. Executive Chef Jill Ramseier heads the kitchen team, crafting classic pub food taken to the next level. Jill matches our brewer's passion, creating dishes from scratch with the best possible local ingredients.

Originally started out at a place down by pioneer square on 2nd avenue that was just OK. Was asking people of street for a good craft beer place and they all steered me to the Pearl District and this place. GO. the beers were fantastic and the place is packed as was the bar. Met several strangers that were friends... More

It's hard to find a seat in the bar during peak times. They will let you buy directly at the bar and you can stand around the bar area--there is a cool fireplace. Food is pretty good for bar food as well.

Had beers at bar - no food. The place was jammed. Good beer, the friendliest, most competent bartenders I've encountered in a long time.

My wife and several friends converged on Portland for a 3 day weekend around a wedding we attended. Happy to say we visited Deschutes 3 times. Once late at night, once before noon and again in the mid afternoon. It looks pretty busy at noon and dinner time and luckily never waited to be seated. Had some great fries with... More

If you going to spend any time in Portland, you should include Deschutes Brewery as one of your lunch or dinner choices. It is located along the NS trolley line and has a packed house almost any night. You can get the six 4-ounce beer sampler or just enjoy one of the seasonal choices to go with your pizza or... More

It was fun to stop at Deschutes Brewery, and I could tell that a lot of other people felt the same way as it was pretty busy for a late night on a weekday. The place had a great atmosphere and our server was very friendly. I had the beer flight (delicious) and the person I was with went for... More

We decided to just pick a street and start walking down it to find a restaurant. When we saw Deschutes, we knew that was our destination...not to mention it was filled with customers. The wait was longer than expected, but it was worth it. I ordered the elk burger which was cooked to perfection. It was far larger than I... More

This place is a zoo! It's packed and quite lively, serving up what used to be good craft beer but what has become a bit more institutional of late. The food is decent pub food, but not as good as you can get at other local brewpubs. We waited a half hour for an outside table on a warm sunny... More

Sorry: what was the high note about? I had a shredded pork on top of leafy grits. Sorry no flavor, my wife had a steak but the failed to remove the brine. The chief came out to recook the steak to medium but so, so to medium well. The drinks are good. But I rate them low on taste. The... More

I love beer, I love the fact Portland offers so many micro breweries. So, this one was on our list as well visiting from Houston, TX. I hoped for a glass of unfiltered wheat beer but wasn't available that night. I ordered the Schwarzbeer and wow - just as good as from Bamberg, Germany. Thumbs up! When you want to... More
