Description: Fusing a distinct Northwest and classic Scottish Pub feel, this Pearl District destination has become a convivial gathering spot of beer and food lovers since its 2008 opening. The brew pub's 18 taps feature Deschutes mainstays plus a selection of seasonal and experimental beers developed and brewed on site exclusively for the Portland pub by brewer Ben Kehs. Executive Chef Jill Ramseier heads the kitchen team, crafting classic pub food taken to the next level. Jill matches our brewer's passion, creating dishes from scratch with the best possible local ingredients.

I try to eat at Deschutes at least once each time I'm in Portland; this visit I ate there twice, and the food is very good (can't rate the beer since I drink iced tea, but everyone around me seemed to enjoy the tasting flights and chilled glasses). The burger was excellent; the noise level was high as expected; the... More

We arrived after dinner and just had drinks in the bar. The service was excellent, over and above the call of duty. After we ordered our first drink, our server brought us tasters of beers he thought we might like to try next, which was an impressive touch. We ended up staying far longer than we had planned because the... More

This establishment was just down the street from Powell’s City of Books. Our trip to Oregon had included the side tour “Beers of Oregon” and Deschutes is one brewery I had heard of east of the Mississippi. The menu was a notch above pub grub, with a small plate flavor to it (they had full size entrees as well). The... More

This was a great place to stop and have a few appetizers and a beer. We walked over from the hotel to sample beers and pubs on the way and it was worth it. The staff were great, friendly folks in a high traffic place (not many people can hold up a positive attitude in a fast paced environment) and... More

Awesome beer selection. Hoppy, then ales, the cask conditioned specials. There is even food (for those that must eat). Beer. Enjoy!

We go to Deschutes every time we go to Portland. It's one of those Portland experiences that will live with you after you leave. The atmosphere is very positive and the food is really good -- our table ordered the pear and cheese pizza, pork and grits, hamburger and ruby greens salad. And we all ordered a different beer, including... More

Went to dinner with the family here on vacation. Be prepared to wait a bit for a table. But it's a great place for good craft beer and pub food.

Then make definitely make the Deschutes Brewery a must visit if you are in Portland. Suggest that you first build up your appetite and thirst by combing through nearby Powell's Books, and then do indulge yourself with a bon repast complemented by a fine craft beer at this truly terrific brewpub. Boisterous atmosphere; delightful decor (love those high ceilings!); and... More

Each visit to Portland we stop at Deschutes for their wonderful beer and great brewpub food. It is a very popular spot and can be a bit of a wait but worth it. Try the tasting sampler so that you can experience a variety of beer. Beer and food are reasonably priced, staff are friendly and helpful. A fun night... More
