great funky place

We went on a weekday evening, and only two other tables were filled. Very ecletic (hippy) atmosphere, but service was great, beer was good local and cold (my favorite). I had the mole tacos and they were very good. My daughter had a bento bowl that was also good. There was no music the night we... read more

I went in the evening and they were out of many items on the menu which was disappointing. Drinks were watered down in my opinion and limited on what they could make. Eclectic environment with live music.

The atmosphere at Cafe Mundo is quite unique. Live music by local artists in refreshing. The service has improved greatly and their food remains the best in Newport.

Think twice about what you want in a dining experience and schedule accordingly. The food is consistently good but if you go at peak hours, you typically will face a very long wait unless you are just ordering drinks, of if you have ordered ahead for take-out (and then eat it there). Noise is also a consideration -- if you... More

We were there Sunday morning and I think one of the wait staff was late as things were a little hectic at first but our waitress, the chef! and even another waiter later were great. I got the tempeh bento bowl, another friend got the breakfast burrito and two of us got the tomato-pesto soup and cheeses of the world... More

We wanted some lighter food compared to many other offerings (e.g., fried) in Newport, OR. Cafe Mundo was a few blocks from our hotel, we checked out the menu, and we walked over. We ended up going twice, which is a testament to how much we liked the place. The first night, we went on

I frequent Cafe Mundo with family members and/or friends. I appreciate the local foods, art, music, and guests that I encounter every time I walk through the door! Visitors have the options of dining outside in a funky courtyard, downstairs at tiny tables near the entrance, stage and stairs, or upstairs in the main dining area. Each space has its... More

Neat building in a garden setting. I had a great bento, but my wife's chicken ceasar salad was not too good. Chicken was dry and way too many croutons. But, will definitely gp back.

We had a good dinner, but they were going to have live music that night so it was very crowded and noisy. We've eaten there before, and it is pretty reliable. Nothing fancy. Good choices for vegetarians.
