Always a treat

Great, fun atmosphere, wonderful food and drink values, live music. Servers are pros with a smile - and most have been with Mundo long term. We've been Mundo fans for years and always catch a Saturday night there every one of our 5 trips annual trips to Newport. Can't beat the fresh tuna sandwich... read more

They have a eclectic assortment of food, art and drinks. They always have live music on the weekend and the Brie plate is delicious, as well as the tune burgers. They are closed Monday and Tuesday I believe which is frustrating when you want to eat there for lunch.

Hidden back from the road through tall shrubs, this is no ordinary restaurant. You can eat outdoors or within the refurbished 2-story house. I went for lunch with a local who had heard the food was good. It was before noon, so we had great service at first. They got busier and had trouble keeping up with beverage refills so... More

This was the only place we ate last trip as we are vegan and pescatarian/vegetarian. We enjoyed tempeh sandwich, fish tacos and a roasted veggie bowl. All were delicious. Servings are average, the salads were very fresh with great dressings. This is an extremely casual, funky-coastal, friendly place that is reminiscent of late 70's natural foods restaurants. Live music, friendly... More

Open late. Fun environment with live music that we actually liked. Food was amazing. The seared tuna was perfection. I appreciate the vegan/vegetarian options. I'm really glad we found this place.

We went on a weekday evening, and only two other tables were filled. Very ecletic (hippy) atmosphere, but service was great, beer was good local and cold (my favorite). I had the mole tacos and they were very good. My daughter had a bento bowl that was also good. There was no music the night we went, but if there... More

I went in the evening and they were out of many items on the menu which was disappointing. Drinks were watered down in my opinion and limited on what they could make. Eclectic environment with live music.

The atmosphere at Cafe Mundo is quite unique. Live music by local artists in refreshing. The service has improved greatly and their food remains the best in Newport.

Think twice about what you want in a dining experience and schedule accordingly. The food is consistently good but if you go at peak hours, you typically will face a very long wait unless you are just ordering drinks, of if you have ordered ahead for take-out (and then eat it there). Noise is also a consideration -- if you... More

We were there Sunday morning and I think one of the wait staff was late as things were a little hectic at first but our waitress, the chef! and even another waiter later were great. I got the tempeh bento bowl, another friend got the breakfast burrito and two of us got the tomato-pesto soup and cheeses of the world... More
