Setting is cramped, run down looking. Ok - I can go with some antique charm for a nice dining experience. Waited 15 minutes for water. The wait person (who I believe was the cooks helper and not really wait staff) explained they were short handed. Beer list? One kind "it's off-season"??? Ordered. Waited 15 min for salads (in which time... More

GREAT Italian food is not cheap, easy or quick to make! But this beautiful place is still affordable. We had stuffed mushrooms and meatballs for an appetizer. We enjoyed our salads and garlic flatbread. And then we had linguini with alfredo sauce and hot Italian sausage and the cannelloni....... Both were excellent! We would definitely go back. Enjoyed a very... More

Was recommended by the hotel to eat here and it was superb! Excellent service, great surroundings (surrounded by books!). Pasta was to die for as was the garlic bread. A slice of each desert was brought out on a tray for you to look at and then choose - so much better than looking at a menu! Can't fault it.... More

Nice surprise to find such good Italian on the Oregon coast. Had the Baked manicotti with meatballs. Wish I had been in Newport longer so I could have visited again. More wine choices would have rated 5 stars.

My husband and I found this little cafe' on the last evening of our short stay in Newport. If we had found it earlier we would have eaten every meal thereafter right there. The ambiance is that of an authentic Italian eatery with an added feel of a comfortable coffee shop. The owners and staff are very pleasant and the... More

The evening we stopped in, the food was so good and portions very generous. The topper was that they had a duo playing and singing and made us feel that at the moment we were as close as we could get to New Orleans. They were very good and made the evening just that much more fun.

We stumbled on this find the last time we were in Newport. On Wednesdays they have all the spaghetti you can eat for $6.50 including salad and garlic bread. Meatballs are 2 for $4.50. It is some the best spaghetti We have had ever eaten. We each had 1 meatball which are the best meatballs we have eaten. They are... More

very good food. The canelloni, lasagna, fresh bread, and diner salads with house vinegrette were amazing and fresh. The coffee and tiramasu were also top notch.

The staff here is friendly and the atmosphere underground and eclectic. We were told by a staff member while grocery shopping "it's much better than Olive Garden". Having heard not so pleasant things about it in the past we decided to give it a try. I ordered spaghetti. The sauce was actually burned - like it had been reheated over... More

I can't say enough good things about Green Gables. Excellent food and service. I love the ambience of this place. Even though it looked small, they had no problem seating and serving our family of 7 comfortably. Will definitely be a return customer.
