Quaint little seaside restaurant that's been there since the late 80's so that should tell you something. Many restaurants seem to have a short life there. We ordered the salmon special, which was just great. Along with that was a baked potato and small bowl of clam chowder. The restaurant was full and remained that way. The next visit (next... More

We went there with a friend that is a local. She had suggested the chowder here. When taking our order for beverages the waitress told us about the specials. One was the Crab Louie Salad. That is what we ordered. Had no idea it would be $26 for a bunch of lettuce and very little crab. I questioned her about... More

We have visited this location several times and tend to get there right when the doors open. It gets very busy (probably because it's so good). The service is fast and friendly. I am convinced they have the best chowder on the Oregon Coast. We always get the fish and chips which is great! A trip to Newport is NOT... More

We come to Newport a couple of times a year and always seem to eat once here. It's reliable in terms of quality. They've backed off from mostly fried options but still do a very serviceable fish and chips and their chowder, if not the best ever, is very satisfying. The service is friendly and very fast, important for family... More

Food was expensive. Just average food, nothing great. We had fish and chips, and shrimp and chips. Nothing to brag about. Service was fine considering it was super busy.

Nice restaurant in the Nye Beach area of Newport. I think it used to be the older part of this seaside city, but it is being reshaped into an artsy area withnice cafés and eateries. Clam chowder was excellent, as were the fried oysters and clams.

I've been meaning to review this place for months. I kept reading about the wonderful waiter, James. The food was ok, but we would go back just for him. So friendly and helpful! We ordered the fish and chips and chowder. The chowder was a bit bland. The fish and chips portion was huge and is enough for two. The... More

Parked on the street to go eat at Nan's Irish pub. Walked down one block to see the beach, on the way back decided to eat at the Chowder Bowl. Good cup of thick chowder, really good battered fish - has a thicker cornmeal batter. Fish sandwich came with two large pieces of battered fish and coleslaw. Bread pudding was... More

Stopped in today for a burger and clam chowder. The chowder is way over rated. It was basically potato soup with no clam flavor at all. Have had better chowder at Newport Cafe, Mo's and Flynn's Steakhouse in Albany Oregon. The burger was okay, but was dry as there was no condiments and ketchup was the only thing on the... More
