Fresh, wonderfully prepared and presented food. Nice view of the harbor from the second floor. Excellent wine list too.

Make sure to have a reservation or wait for more than an hour to be seated. You don't have to wait in front of the restaurant, they will text you when your seat is available. We enjoyed the restaurant for its food and its staff. The restaurant itself does not have a very nice setting.

This is one of the “fancier” places to eat in Historic Downtown Old Newport. It’s at the far end (or right at the beginning depending on where you come from) of the main touristy attractions in this area. At the end of what seemed to be an interminable amount of window shopping (It’s not my thing, but the SO loves... More

We planned a weekend to the coast and wanted to try some super fresh seafood during our visit and Local Ocean came to the top of our search on both Yelp and TripAdvisor pretty quickly. We stopped in for lunch and they had a lot of great offerings on the menu so we tried a few. The crab soup was... More

This restaurant was the highlight of our trip! The food and service were superb. The atmosphere was casually classy and the view of the bayfront was a nice bonus.

I have never had any Crabcakes better than these. There is hardly any filler just tons of crab meat. Their other menu items are also delicious epically their crab soup.

I have eaten at Local Ocean three times, and it is by far the best restaurant in Newport. The crab cakes are excellent. They have expanded and now have an upstairs for seating. This is excellent because the tables look over Yaquina Bay and the bridge. The service is great also. I highly recommend this restaurant in Old Town Newport.... More

Our host at our tmeshare (VI) told us about Local Ocean. Where the locals go for the best seafood in Newport. It was and it is. Great recipes and perfect presentation in a very relaxed, non-formal cafe. We eat out as we travel and Local Ocean is a true find.
