Great chowder with a history!

We love Mo's, in all its coastal incarnations. Cozy, casual, friendly and the chowder is really excellent. It's fun to recall that in the 70s, during the making of the film "Sometimes a Great Notion" star Paul Newman and his wife Joanne Woodward loved the place and brought the whole crew.

The Anex does not serve the fried foods. That can be found across the the street in the original building. The service was fantastic. A birthday song for my daughter with fabulous brownie was a delight.

Mo's annex is great because it sits near the water. Friendly staff just as there is at the original Mo's restaurant across the street. Same wonderful food!

Enjoyed the food and watched fish being brought in from the boats and cleaned. Got the chowder bowl. Good price and friendly service. Can be crowded

We were told we had to go to Mo's as a Newport staple. Chose Mo's Annex as it has seating on the bayfront. The food was pretty good - when we finally got it. Took forever to get served as my wife's food sat plated on the counter for forever while our server - who said she had worked there... More

My husband has always been a fan of Mo's so when we visited Newport this week, we went there for dinner. I ordered the avocado stuffed with the shrimp salad, and he ordered the shrimp salad sandwich with a side of chowder. I had a few bites of the shrimp and there lots of bits of shell or cartilage (whatever... More

Nice people and good service--but the food is awful!! The Chowder--OMG--should only be used to keep cement blocks in place for the foundation of a house. BUT--you do get free dessert on your birthday!!

Have tried other locations in the past and were disapointed, as we were here. We figured the clam chowder might be different as each location should be prepped by different people. Unfortunately, it was the same potato filled thick starchy goo as the others. At least they are consistent.

We found Mo's while walking down the Bay side tourist area. The bay side of the street is mostly working fish processing places that unload fishing boats and process frozen fish for shipment. The other side of the street is tourist places. Mo's restaurant is on the tourist side. Mo's Annex is on the industrial/fishing side of the street above... More

The restaurant has been reliable for years, the annex overlooks the bay and at dinner time the crab boats were returning. We had fish tacos oysters and shrimp salads. The servers were quick and friendly. The food tasty and atmosphere entertaining. Good experience in old town Newport.
