Mo's used to have the best chowder on the OR Coast. Now it is basically a potato soup visited by an occasional clam. Probably thickened by flour, and the big butter pat in the middle could not save it.

Mo's is a tradition on the Oregon coast, and to this day that tradition continues going strong by serving fresh seafood and an excellent chowder at reasonable prices. If you enjoy seafood, you need to eat at Mo's.

All Mo's are not created equal! In my opinion this is not the best. The clam chowder is all potatoes, the clams are far and in between. My Grandson's grill cheese had to be sent back as it was burned to a crisp! Service was sloppy and slow. The only good part was the view if you nab a table... More

This was the first restaurant we ate at when we got to Newport because we wanted clam chowder and they claim they have the best (in the west). The chowder was good, but the clams weren't very big and there seemed to be more potatoes. We got the sourghdough bread bowl, which was a little dry. Service was good, but... More

We waited way too long for this meal. Over 40 minute wait. Slow service once we were seated. Average meal. Shrimp seafood salad average spiced and seafood stew too tomato-y

We always eat at Mo's when visiting Newport. I had the shrimp skewers with the bay shrimp salad and the garlic green beans. It was good, my husband had a fish and chips basket with clam chowder and my daughter had a tuna melt with chowder. They said the tuna melt was awesome. Very busy place, filled with tourists but... Having heard Mo's clam chowder had to be tried, we made sure to stop by Mo's in Newport. It was busy, but we were seated quickly. Nice selection of seafood and good-sized portions. The atmosphere was homey with lots of pics on the walls. Our waitress, who was friendly and upbeat, recommended their beer-battered halibut fish and chips. So we... More

The restaurant opened on the Newport bay front in the 1940's. I ate their a lot in the 1970's and the 1980's until I moved to the midwest. When I returned to Oregon in 1996, I eagerly awaited my first trip to Mo's in almost 20 years. The food, etc at Mo's location at Otter Rock is small and funky,... More

While on a bus tour, we stopped in Florence and we decided to give Mo's a try for lunch...Can't say there was anything special about the place other than it was right on the water with a nice view...menu was pretty much standard fare that you could find at most places...the food was average as was the service...not a bad... We've grown less patient with the folks who are bringing large numbers of children, sometimes poorly behaved, to any restaurant, and Mo's gets them all. All. We prefer to visit the coast in the less-busy months, and this makes it far more pleasant at attractions and restaurants. Eat at off-hours, or later in the evening, and the meals are more... More
