Excellent food in a lovely setting

This restaurant is in the Newport historic Bayfront at the end of the pier, right on the water. It is a small place so reservations are a must and was recently mentioned in the Portland newspaper so call several days ahead. The food is outstanding, fresh and well prepared. We arrived at 6:30 on a Sunday night,in the middle of August. The restaurant is small and it was 3/4 full. We did not have to wait for a table. It closes early even in the summer. We noticed someone wanting dinner around 8:20 and they did not have to opportunity to come in and eat, at that time our... More

If you enjoy salmon, this is the place. If you do not there are many other options including non-fish items. The service was very good. I would definitely recommend a visit to the restaurant for dinner. It is not cheap but competitive with some of the other finer restaurants in the area.

This used to be my favorite. The last two times I visited this summer, the services were rushed, value was poor charging for bread and butter, food was substandard with calamari dripping with grease and no longer worth the visit. If you have a special celebration, don't go there with a crowd. Everyone in our groups were disappointed.

Very cozy restaurant at the historic bay of Newport. Beautiful view to the bay and delicious food! I had a Clam chowder first and then a perfectly grilles wild salmon filet. The staff is very friendly and they reacted very generous when I found a piece of butter paper in my mashed potatoes. The wine list shows only wines from... More

Newly arrived in town and looking for somewhere for dinner, we saw Saffron Salmon's location and read the reviews ... had a great meal. Friendly and knowledgable staff, we were given a window table with a great view of the harbor. A super wine list, featuring many of Oregon's offerings, all reasonably priced. Selecting your dishes from the menu is... More

Fantastic. My wife had the salmon, which melted in her mouth. Two of us had the fish stew. A little bite but delicious. Service was great. Wine good. View of bay great as well. All in all a perfect dinner perfect night.

We loved this place. This small and charming restaurant is situated on Yaquina Bay. The Heart of Palm risotto was delicious and the crab/shrimp cakes were darn good. One of the better restaurants in Newport.

A small restaurant with a great view of the bay. Fishing boats were returning while we were eating dinner. We both had chowder that was just right. One of us had the fish and chips--portion was extremely generous. The other person had the beet salad, again very generous size and delicious.

Go the Garlic Prawns. They are to die for. The staff are very pleasant and always available for advise. Great view of the river and fishing fleet.
