Fantastic, you won't be disappointed

We had thought the restaurant served Induan food which was why we went but we stayed to have lunch and were so glad we did. The food was amazing. We ordered the fish and chips and the cod sandwich with the Asian slaw. Both were fantastic, even the ketchup was house made. Everything was fresh... read more

We were there on a rainy Saturday afternoon about 1:30. It was not busy at the time and we had our choice of seats, so we sat at a window with a view of the bay. This alone made it pretty special. The restaurant has very nice decor, kind of an upscale bistro or cafe, with cool color coordination. We... More

We each ordered the special for tonight: petrale sole stuffed with a crab/shrimp mousse braised in white wine and leeks and served on a spinach risotto. Every bite was excellent even though I didn't see evidence of the crab and shrimp. We would definitely go back there.

We found ourselves in Newport for dinner on Sunday night before MLK day, having struck out on Blackfish Cafe and Sidedoor Cafe, both of which were closed. We went in with low expectations, but were very pleasantly surprised with both the excellent service and food. I had a pasta and squid dish and my friend had a portobello and goat... More

There are a variety of places to eat in Newport, and this restaurant is high on the list. The menu includes an excellent selection and the meals we had were each prepared well and presented appropriately. It was a little pricey (costing us $72 with tip for two) for this otherwise plain little eating place, but not out of line... More

Every visit to Newport we eat dinner at Saffron Salmon. We love it. My favorite meal is the halibut special plate, a nice glass of Merlot, and cobbler for dessert.

We have been here before and had regular menu food but this time we decided to have their special. What a treat, as the duck was as fine as anywhere. The window table was nice for the bay view. Also, good service. Thank you!

Newport is a working person's sea town, and the Saffron Salmon holds a perfect spot for enjoying the view of boats going in and out of the bay. We have enjoyed several delicious meals in this lovely little restaurant, and we never miss a chance to dine here when we are in Newport.

We discovered this delightful restaurant in 2009, our last visit to Newport. We had a lunch & a dinner here last week. Both excellent! The Linguini with Sautéed Large Wild Prawns was absolutely wonderful!

For years we had considered a "local" restaurant as the best Newport had to offer. Until today when we visited Saffron Salmon. The restaurant itself has a great view of the harbor and is tastefully decorated. We tried the flash fried brussels sprouts to begin and were very happy. The garlic aoli that accompanied it was great as well. We... More
