right on the bay

i would expect a good view and okay food, but a good view and good food is to be appreciated. saffron salmon is on a dock above the bay. I had lunch there a squid pasta dish, nicely flavored tasty as a puntanesca should be. unexpected good food always a delight.

The first time we went to Saffron Salmon was on New Years Eve. We thought it was going to be obnoxiously busy and the food lack luster (previous NYE restaurant visit experiences). We were surprised. We had a table by the window, and although too dark to see much it was still a treat. The food was exceptional. Perfect portions... More

The food was good, but no better than many other places with more pocket-friendly prices. The prices at Saffron Salmon were absolutely exorbitant.

We had lunch at the Saffron Salmon and it was a great experience. Weather was great and enhanced the setting which overlooks the Yaquina Bay waterfront and historic Yaquina Bay Bridge with crab fishing being done of the pier just outside your window. My wife enjoyed the Seafood Cake ($21) which is a blend of crab and shrimp meat with... More

The mussels were some of the best I have ever tried. Fresh mussels have a tenderness and flavor to them that can be tasted immediately and Safron Salmon delivered that perfecly served in a lemon whitewine broth. The risotto was well cooked and the grilled salmon had a nice flaky/smokey texture. The local Oregon Pinot Gris wine was excellent. All... More

My husband and I own a timeshare in Newport. We used to love going to Newport in November until we learned that Saffron Salmon closes that month. So now we don't go to Newport in November anymore. That is how good the food is! So we were a week in Newport and ate at this amazing gem twice, once for... More

Had dinner here Jan 2, 2015, and was it ever excellent! Picked it from restaurant reviews on Tripadvisor, and although it wasn't rated the best, it should have been.mi have eaten at all the others, and the menu, food, fresh seafood, wait staff and view were outstanding. We started with the special cheese plate with our bottle of Chardonnay. Chose... More

The owner does not understand good customer service. She is rude and disrespectful to customers. Food does not make up for her lack of class.

goes out to eat on New Year's Eve. We did and were delighted with both the service and the food. The salmon was tasty and not overcooked. The brussel sprouts, although fried, were tasty and not at all greasy. The chowder had good flavor and was not thick and glumpy like you find at some other spots. The berry cobbler... More

The food and service are always top-notch. We often eat there on our anniversary. There are usually vegetarian options, and the kitchen does a great job with fresh fish.
