Four of us visited in May, the service was excellent and the food was even better. We had a selection of the appetisers and the entrees. All of which were excellent.

This is one of the best restaurants in Newport. it's a bit upscale for a day at the beach but for a romantic weekend away it is perfect. It is also quiet and you can watch the seals and sea lions play in the bay while you dine.

We ate at this restaurant after good recommendations from our B & B, on May 02, 2014.We both ordered the fish and chips and the meal was awful. Unbeknowest to us, a second couple from our B & B also ate there on the same night and their fish and chips was so bad that the man asked the waitress... More

I had lunch here with my mother because I had read some good reviews. The staff was friendly and the food was very good. I would go back. I overheard the staff recommending to a customer to make reservations for dinner.

How does a crab BLT sound , it was amazing with a nice local Chardonnay accompanied by a fresh mozzarella salad with heirloom tomatoes and this was just lunch . A definite must stop while in Newport .

My wife and I made the short drive to Newport from Lincoln City mainly to run some errands, and after those were done...it was dinner time. We have been wanting to try this restaurant for quite some time and were very happy to have gotten this chance to try it especially on this gorgeous evening with great views of Yaquina... More

Stopped in during a rainy day stroll through Newport's Bayfront galleries and shops. Very quick service with an attentive server. Started with grilled brussel sprouts with garlic, olive oil and lemon. Very good. Shared a grilled salmon sandwich and beet salad. Both were very good and very filling. Enjoyed a leisurely lunch.

We are doing a clam chowder tasting tour, driving south from Astoria to Brookings then returning to California. Great view, wonderful service. The clam chowder was sublime - nonsalty extremely tasty broth (guess what - with saffron!), teeny potatoes (and not too many), very tender clams. Just wonderful. We also shared the seafood stew without mussels and it was very... More

This was the standout of our coast eating pleasure. The evening was not well planned, even though we'd discovered this small restaurant the night before while waiting for a table at another local spot. We should have made a reservation, but found out how accomodating this staff really is. They found us immediately a table and made us feel right... More

I first reviewed Saffron Salmon in 2006 and said it was the "nice" place we like to go -- more elegant than many other favorite Newport restaurants -- like Local Ocean or Noodles -- with more of a special feeling. It can be a bit expensive, but with newer innovations like the Thursday Bite Night and a wonderful lunch menu,... More
