The dinner at the Sylvia Beach Hotel (served downstairs at the cleverly named Tables of Content, to complement the literary theme of the hotel) is a screaming deal. For $25.00 per person, you get a hearty, multi-course meal with a starter, salad, plenty of veg, your choice of entrée, and dessert. Alcohol (reasonably priced) and tip are extra. You are... More

We had a wonderful family style dinner here. What a great concept to seat people at a family style table for dinner. We were seated with a couple and brother from Corvallis and San Francisco and another couple from the Portland area who were retired and volunteering to host different lighthouses on the Oregon coast. It made for a very... More

Normally I don't post reviews since I'm a waitress but aside from our bottle of wine, good company and a great view it was not impressive in the least. The staff, I'm sure they are nice people just in the wrong line of work, were forgetful and awkward. The food was hit and miss but when considering the bill at... More

Dinner with a hotel stay is optional or anyone can simply reserve. The tables are set for 8 so you never know who you’ll be dining with. We booked for our first night. The menu changes daily so you need to select one of three entrees when making reservations. Meals are served family style. Each table is encouraged to play... More

Called in the morning of our reservation, to pick our entrees: duck breast with dried fruit, and albacore tuna. Arrived early enough to have a glass of wine while waiting to be seated. Shelly the cat pretended we didn't exist, to our dismay. The bell was rung for dinner and we were escorted downstairs (steep!) for dinner. Met our tablemates.... More

Whenever we have a special occasion or out of town company, we drive the 50 miles from Florence, OR to Newport to enjoy a great dinner along with a socially fun evening with other guests. The food alone is enough reason to go the distance, add the excellent service and the "game" that is encouraged and you have a delightful,... More

Who knew dining with a group of strangers could be this much fun. Connecting with travelers and writers from around the country enhanced this exceptional dining experience. We laughed and made new friends over a family-style, local farm-to-fork culinary adventure. This was a meal I'll never forget.

My sister, brother-in-law Steve and I traveled to Oregon to be with some of his family for Thanksgiving week. The weather was beautiful, as were the beaches - and we stayed in Newport, Oregon near the family "cabin". Each morning we ventured out to see the sights and saw the Sylvia Beach Hotel - a must for me, a bookseller!... More

My sister and I wanted to avoid the usual holiday meal at home and since we had never tried the Tables of Content, figured this would be a good alternative. We were seated with two other couples from out of town and managed to strike up some good conversation as the appetizers and drinks arrived. The room was decorated just... More

Tables of Content is the restaurant located in the Sylvia Beach Hotel. We have been patrons of the hotel and restaurant for 20+ years. We go to the Oregon Coast once or twice a year and almost always stay at the Sylvia Beach Hotel. The uniqueness of the hotel and restaurant is the reason we keep returning. The menu changes... More
