Hey, it'd a local joint with darn good bar food, the fries could be better, but every sandwich i've had, and all those that go by to other tables, are plentiful and tasty. i don't know what these guys are complaining about on price - it's one of the most reasonable in the state - you want pricy? go to... We have been to Szabo's 4 times for both lunch and dinner. They have a nice varied menu and the food has always been good. Salads fresh, steaks and burgers done exactly how we ordered them. The prices are fair for a sit down restaurant. I'm sure at times, the restaurant gets loud, after all, it is a sports bar... More

If you are after a sports bar loud atmosphere with expensive bar food and a cheap outdated atmosphere then this is the place for you.

Stopped in for lunch today and was very disappointed in both the food and service here. I ordered a soup and salad lunch. The salad was a bowl of wilted-looking lettuce with a bunch of croutons thrown on top. What a lousy side salad that was. And the bowl of chowder was so horrible I took one bite and couldn't... More

Szabo's has long been one of our "go to" favourite places to eat in Newport and we eat there probably once a month, but we had not been in since the first of the year. This visit was with some friends on a weeknight early enough to catch the Sunset Menu. Okay, those dinners are still a good deal. There... More

On a recent house hunting trip to Newport we were advised to go for the oysters on Wed. night. What a delight. The fresh morsels were lightly breaded and deep fried. They arrived hot - just out of the fryer. The taste was great - very fresh and succulent. The sides of salad, fries and, baked potatoes were average, but... More

My husband and I stopped in for dinner on a Monday night. He ordered the philly cheesesteak with chowder and I had the captain's plate. All was very good with huge portions. The seafood tasted very fresh. We saved half the sandwich for our next day's lunch. Service was very friendly and prompt. Waiter was pretty knowledgeable on all the... More

My friend and I had lunch there earlier this week and it was excellent. I had a reuben and she had a shrimp salad both were outstanding in taste and size

My wife and I ate at Szabo’s on the Rib-eye special steak night and had a very nice meal. It is an old tavern, road house and reputed house of Ill-repute that is a local hang-out. The place is clean, very clean (even the floor sparkles) and serves big portions of food. Our rib-eyes were 16oz ($11.95)and the potatoes were... More
