Ate here about two years ago and it was wonderful. The shrimp tapas were large and the bacon was cooked, that's why we returned. But alas the previous dinning experience would not be repeated. This time the shrimp were half the size as last time, the bacon was undercooked and it had some kind of mango salsa (I think) on... More

First, I would like to thank you for choosing Bay 839. As you have not been to our restaurant in two years, you probably noticed quite a few changes. Back in mid May, Bay 839 was re-themed from a tapas restaurant to one specializing in Pacific Rim cuisine. As the Executive Chef and creator of the new menu, I have... More

After staying at the coast for a week, we were tired of seafood and tried the Bay 839 for steak. They have an amazing steak for the price. We love their kids menu as all the kids items are homemade. Pizza dough made from scratch, mac and cheese homemade, not a box. Great prices for kids too. And the view... More

We visited Newport from Seattle, and were pleasantly surprised to find this great spot right on the water in the harbor. The staff were smart, helpful, and very professional, but the seafood was superb. With this place in Newport, I wish I lived closer. But if you want a great meal, casual setting, and really reasonable prices, and you are... More

I have been going to Bay 839 since it opened and have always loved their atmosphere, view, infusion cocktails and small plates. Their service is always impeccable; friendly, informative, and attentive! Their new Hawaiian-Asian infusion menu is amazing! The Bolgogi is a must try along with their Kona coffee creme brulee! Go for the view from every table and stay... More

Both of us had soup. Yum. Two different types of soup, both tasty. I had the tuna special which was perfectly cooked and the rice that accompanied it nicely. We had two servers check on us which was nice but not obtrusive. I want to try the fish tacos the next time I go.

I ate there over a year ago and the cocktails were fabulous and the small plate menu was great....ate there yesterday and was completely disappointed. Our wings were tasteless, the I had kaliua pork pizza...pork was extremely salty and my friend had the grilled chicken wrap that had this overwhelming sweet sauce, that was dripping all over the plate, she... I would like to first off thank you for choosing Bay 839, regardless of your experience here. We are very proud of the new Pacific Island Fusion menu we released, and have not received any other complaints. That being said, I apologize on behalf of the staff for the experience that you perceived as sub par. I, as the executive... More

West coast crab cakes are usually little crab, lots of filler and mayo. Bay 839's --- no so. Best crab cakes since Baltimore! Lots of crab and crab flavor. A+. Great views of Newport's harbor. Not so of employees' tattoos.

This is rated #59 but needs to be in the top 10! My husband and I had a late lunch here on our drive up the coast on our last day of vacation. It was a Wednesday and most places were closed so we wandered in to Bay 839. We sat down in the first room we came too and... More

This is my appetizer stop before I have cioppino across the street. A Bloody Mary with their garlic-Serrano infused vodka is to die for. I missed the guy serving drinks this time. He is so good and knowledgeable. Crab cake and salad goes well with the BM!!

My boyfriend an I came here on a mission: I'd read about this bar's drink called the Spicy Po Boy- PBR, garlic-Serrano pepper vodka, and Clamato- and was determined to try it. We each had two; they were delicious! Very garlicky, but we happen to like that. There was only one other table of people- locals- having a drink. They... More
