Very unassuming place. We must've caught this place right as it opened because we walked in and were seated and within no more that 3 to 5 minutes the place was packed out the door! Though it's not a particularly big place, this was a very astonishing realization; shared by everyone in our party. The chef was great very engaging... More

We came here after a lovely day of hiking in the area and were expecting good food. Not the case. The food was not up to my expectations, the service was slow, and the prices were on the high side for the quality and quantity of food they served. I will not eat here again.

We were looking for a lighter meal in Hood River and this was just perfect. The sushi rolls (Celilo and Bill Murray) were good but not great. The sushi was pretty good although I understand what some folks were saying in their reviews about inconsistent cuts of fish. The star was the wild salmon sushi! I love salmon sushi but... More

Being from Hawaii, I had to try this place out. The sushi was surprisingly good and very fresh. We had the spider roll, spicy tuna roll, tobikko and inari negiri. The yakisoba was okay. They had a variety of sake to choose from and the service was very good! Would definitely go back.

Having traveled to many parts of Japan, experiencing great sushi houses I enter Sushi Okalani expecting the same ole American sushi I had experienced before. From the entrance the first visual is the sushi bar. Tables are available but I was looking for a sushi experience. I like to see the freshness and pick and choose. I looked to note... More

Great service, love the specials, great for sushi away from the ocean. Love the happy hour deals. It is a little loud, so can be tough to talk.

We showed up with 16 and they seated us quickly. They were happy because a group had just cancelled, and they were happy to have unexpected business. They even did separate checks which they admitted they normally don't do when busy. The food was nice, attractive and tasty. The only downside was that it came in small batches which meant... More

I took my sister here and we liked the small environment. the food was good, despite the fact I'm not a big fan of any type of seafood. I ordered the ceviche which was great!!! Do recommend for those sushi lovers. <3

Every anniversary, we explore another nifty part of our newish state, and for the 5th, we headed to Hood River. Another tradition is sushi. We've eaten a lot of sushi in our combined lifetimes and know of what we speak. Pandora Reggae replaced the more traditional Japanese music, which suited the interior and atmosphere of the establishment. Rarely do we... More

Delicious food but the restaurant itself is very small. There are only a few tables and a bar. It is always full of people and you almost always have to sit at the sushi bar which isn't much fun when you are with friends and can't have a normal conversation because they are four chairs away. Edamame is fantastic.
