Thank god for Sushi Okalani. If you smile when you think of fresh sushi and a small intimate restaurant, this place is for you. Its hidden in a basement in the corner of Hood River's hot spot downtown. This place gets packed easy and can take a while to get dinner, but everyone there is working nonstop. Just be patient.... The place offers fresh sashimi and wasabi. I recommend trying the happy hour meals as well. The order takes a bit while to arrive but it's worth while waiting. So give it a shot you will not repent.

Sushi Okalani offers an assortment of delicious sushi rolls and other staples of Japanese cuisine, along with a wide selection of sake and beer. The chefs are all professionally trained and very friendly - eager to take special requests and make recommendations. If you do plan to try out Sushi Okalani, I would advise that you arrive early or go... More

We wondered why people were lining up before the place opened for dinner, and now we know. Seating is very limited, but the food is delicious. The place was busy that night, and the service was not very attentive. We never got the drinks we ordered, but the food we ordered was great. We appreciated the menu showing gluten free... More

This place is small but good. Great atmosphere! If you like Japanese food come here. It is a little hard to find, but you'll be glad you did.

Located in a basement, I ate here solo on a Saturday night at the sushi bar...Lots of good rolls and other dishes, crowded, but service was stellar. Food was very fresh.

This is the best Sushi in Oregon. Hands down. I love the fish it's fresh and tasty. The atmosphere is alive and so popular, you might have to wait. It's worth it! I see more kids in this place - but maybe that is just the area culture. Kids eat heathy in the hood. I would keep it a secret... More

Very unassuming place. We must've caught this place right as it opened because we walked in and were seated and within no more that 3 to 5 minutes the place was packed out the door! Though it's not a particularly big place, this was a very astonishing realization; shared by everyone in our party. The chef was great very engaging... More
