We had just rafted the White Salmon and stopped by for a quick lunch. We walked into a restaurant that was full of historical pictures. Restaurant was a little old but the booths were comfortable, and staff extremely friendly, and the food delicious and reasonably priced. We both got different hamburgers and one got a milkshake. We both were full... More

We were staying next door at the Vagabond Lodge, a group of 8 people, and thought we would try this out. Overall everyone was happy with their meals. They were out of items when we arrived. Normal for prime rib, not so normal for the vegetables. But still it was good. I had the sirloin with bake potato. others had... More

...unless you like a greasy gut-bomb. Wife had a greasy patty melt with soggy bread and undercooked fries. She couldn't eat it all so I had a couple bites; threw it all away. I had mushroom swiss burger with undercooked fries. Onion rings looked good but had to soak up the oil with napkins before eating. Some thicker breading not... More

I ate here because it was next door to the Vagabond Lodge and I didn't want to get in the car again to go eat. The chopped steak was good and served with real mashed potatoes, but the place itself appears fairly worn. They don't take orders at your table so you have to order up at the counter. They... More

This place is an absolute must if you are ever around Hood River, particularly if you are coming off hiking or rafting/kayaking and have built up a good appetite. The food is good and it is just the right thing to hit the spot. I tend to get the bacon cheeseburger with a friend egg on it - probably one... More

Don't expect to sit down and be waited on, but if you're looking for delicious food, you've got the right place. You order your food at the counter, but it's real food that they prepare and then bring to your table. The food was excellent!

I really wanted to like this place, however it was down hill the moment I walked in. There was four servers and only two tables and it still took 18 minutes to be acknowledged. The salmon was frozen and they complained about us ordering bread with our meal.

Stopped for a burger in route and was blown away by all the choices there were...very hard to settle on one. The burger I had was delicious...in the most unhealthiest of ways :-) There's a decent salad bar and a few side dishes. Mostly, it's all about the burgers. Beer available too. It wasn't where we intended to stop, but... More

I stopped here for dinner on my way back to the Valley. I ordered the Tri-Tip Dinner ($12.95) as I like good bar-b-que. I had not had the tri-tip here but was willing to 'give it a shot." I was not disappointed. The meal comes with a side-salad (I ordered it with the raspberry vinaigrette dressing which was a little... More

Charburger County and Char Burger Restaurant (Cascade Locks, OR) are related only distantly related and should not be confused (Cascade Locks = 1-2) the Hood River Restaurant is much better of the two. The style is cafeteria style with a counter that takes your order and a server that delivers the food. The food is Western Comfort food. IMHO The... More
