Breakfast over dinner

Great staff. Meals were enjoyable. Cost is average for a moderate-luxury hotel. May not be child-friendly dinners. Breakfasts were our favorite meals there.

Had the most wonderful mid afternoon lunch on the veranda. The view was spectacular, the service was very friendly, and the food was excellent. Even though it was a limited off-hour menu, we really enjoyed our selections. Try the baked cheese -- words cannot do it justice.

Love the hotel but the restaurant is very bad. Ordered ginger ale but got tonic/Pepsi. Sheep cheese with cherries was liquified with the cheese rind floating In the bowl. My wife's dinner came during the appetizers. She had a berry salad with homemade ranch dressing but the dressing tasted like mayo. My meal came,FOLLOWED by the bread. The halibut was... More

Love this place. Like a time trip to a forgotten era. Original 20's era decor, beautifully refurbished, but the wood paneling and velvet wallpaper still recalls days gone by. Wonderful restaurant set high on the Columbia River gorge above Hood River. Watch parasailors and windsurfers from your table window, while enjoying chef prepared offerings, expertly prepared and reasonable priced. Neat... More

Lovely ambience. We had a horrible waitress at dinner; she was rushed, not interested in our dining experience, not attentive, friendly or professional. Dinner was overpriced for the quality and portions; very few temptations for a foodie. We had the cesar salad and salmon; very underwhelming. The pasta selection was limited to one with a cream sauce and then there... More

What a lovely experience! We were seated next to a bay of large windows looking out over the Columbia river and the woods around, as well as the mountains on the Washington side. Great service, our waitress was wonderful and friendly, up front about what was good and what we might not enjoy as much. It did take a little... More

We had a leisurely lunch in a beautiful turn of the century setting. Everyone was very friendly and service was good. The food was tasty. I had a BLTM ( with mozzarella ) and my husband had 'the Hook' which was a steelhead salmon sandwich. The sweet potato fries were excellent.

This was a visit for lunch while on a road trip traveling to Spokane. Food was well prepared and presented. I had the Spinach and Strawberry Salad. It was large and delicious. Dining room is old style and service is good but slow. This is a place to go and linger not for a quick bite. However we wanted to... More

Friday night in the Gorge, dreaming of romantic after-dinner coffee and dessert to watch the ospreys soar over the Columbia. We decided to try the Columbia Gorge Hotel for its view and deck overlooking the river. While waiting to be seated outside, the ONE waitress came in looking flustered and exhausted. She asked another worker to please help her, there... More

Loved it all. A romantic setting with 1920's fixtures and motif. We also had snacks in the grandest bar with large fireplace and an old piano player who has been playing here since the 1940's.
