Fresh, yummy, and affordable

Excellent latte. The Alpenglow sandwich was delicious and huge, as was my husband's Avalanche. Even their basic grilled cheese plus with roast beef (because the teenager doesn't like veggies on his sandwich) was excellent. Fresh ingredients, helpful staff, very casual cafe with limited seating... read more

Excellent latte. The Alpenglow sandwich was delicious and huge, as was my husband's Avalanche. Even their basic grilled cheese plus with roast beef (because the teenager doesn't like veggies on his sandwich) was excellent. Fresh ingredients, helpful staff, very casual cafe with limited seating inside. Also had exceedingly patient staff who were gracious and kind to the rather demanding jerk... More

Great tasting, great ingredients, and friendly service. By far the best nearby breakfast to fuel up for a long hike. Tip: Try the Acai parfait.

This place is a little treat on the way to hike Mt Hood. Delicious, fresh ingredients, coffee and treats. Had outback omelet and biscuit and gravy. Hearty portions. Check it out for some pre or post hiking fuel.

Had a great mile high Avalanche sandwich at this cute sandwich shop. We sat outside on a narrow little balcony patio on a sunny day and drank an organic lemonade. The sandwich was great, the staff very accommodating.

We were taking "the loop" from Hood River to Portland and stumbled upon the bizarrely named town of Government Camp. Since it was breakfast time, we used YELP to search for a yummy place and found High Mountain Cafe' Driving through the sparse town confirmed that it was a good choice. High Mountain Cafe is a rather eclectic dining spot... More

We stopped in for breakfast and we're really happy we did. It was a really nice, relaxed place that a lot of locals seemed to be stopping in at to get coffee. For breakfast, we tried the belgian waffle with berries and whipped cream, a classic (eggs, toast, and vegetarian sausage), and a cosmic scrambler. Everything was fresh and made... More

We visited for breakfast and were pleasantly surprised. The coffee was tasty and there was a wide menu variety to choose from, both for breakfast and for lunch. Service was friendly and there was plenty of seating, inside and outside.

After a nightcap at Charlie's and a night in the sprinter van, I awoke to the beautiful views and sleepy mountain town feel of Government Camp and set out to find a breakfast locale for my sister, her husband and I to fuel up for the day. I am so glad I stumbled upon the High Mountain Cafe. Part cafe,... More

Considering the price and locale, the selection and quality of the food was a bit disappointing. The views were spectacular if you are lucky enough to snag a window table. We went at lunch and had to wait a bit.
