Just okay....

This used to be our favorite place to come when we visit Gold Beach. Our hotel proprietor let us know that the Norwester is not like it used to be, but we decided to find out for ourselves. Unfortunately he was right. The prices have gone sky high and the food has become just average or worse... read more

We came here specifically for oysters at 7:30 mid week. Ordered three oyster entrees but got only one, and fried rather than sautéed as ordered . Kitchen ran out. ok this happens, but someone might have recognized that our replacements were a bit spendier and made some allowance? Fine view and good food. Just pay attention, please.

A very quiet and relaxed atmosphere. The food is very good all around. Presentation, taste and portions are just right. Calamari appetizer is always fresh and well cooked, it's tender and very flavorful.

The atmosphere is very inviting...dark paneling, fireplace (which, however, was not going when we were there. And it was cold!! outside) However, the atmosphere could not make up for the quality of the food. I ordered the cod with a baked potato on the side. The potato looked like it had been "baked" for days...I didn't even cut into it.... More

The hostess was also the bartender, and it took me half an hour to just get my name on the list and never was able to get a cocktail, after forty five minutes we got a bottle of wine because then we wouldn't have to wait again, it was really busy but didn't mind waiting but when we finally did... Arrived to late in the evening to check out the view, but I'm sure it's harborside location provides for plenty to see, especially at sunset. I was disappointed there were no draft beers. I love local craft beers and like to taste them first, before I buy a pint. I ordered the fish and chips (black cod/Rock?) which had a... More

Second story view of the harbor was great;we watched the rain sweep across the bay. Wine list of Northwest wines was adequate. Clam chowder was excellent, and the breaded calamari was someof the best I've ever had. My husband's fish was tender and cooked perfectly. I did think, however, that the prices were a little steep for the cuisine --... More

This restaurant is at the top of the stairs and affords a great view of the harbor. At night there are little twinkling lights everywhere, and the restaurant is not large, so the atmosphere is very romantic and welcoming. Great service, excellent food--this place is one of Dan's favorites, and the clam chowder was really good!

When you travel alone the only person to please is yourself. I pulled into the NorWester hungry and pretty beat from the day's road excursion. The place had popped up my GPS 20 miles north of Gold Beach on the Oregon Coast. It was getting dark when I pulled in. Boats, lots of boats. NIce bay. Real pretty I'd say.... More
