You should go here for two reasons. Great fish and chips at a reasonable price. The fries are OK. But the fish is so fresh and tasty. The second reason is if you want fish to cook at home. Their seafood selection is excellent. Very diverse choices, fresh and great knowledge from all the staff.

The restaurant is actually a window attached to the fishmarket. They have a nice selection of fish and oysters ( lightly breaded and deep-fried after you order) with very good vinegar slaw on the side. The shrimp Louie salad looked good, too. This is not a restaurant; it is a walk up, order and eat there in an outdoor space... More

I've been here three times and look forward to going again on next trip to Eugene. The fish and fries come out hot and tasty. Had the salmon twice--real good. Tried the halibut which was so juicy it squirted a bit---excellent. Eating outside is great in nice weather. Ate inside once and was fascinated by staff cutting up fish behind... More

We ate here one afternoon. The fish was very fresh and made to order. I expected a beer battered coating but instead it is coated with more of a panko bread crumb coating. Either way the fish was not greasy and was moist and crispy! There is limited seating.

Fresh fish, cooked right, reasonable prices - in Eugene, Oregon, what else do want? I'm a fish and chips snob and was satisfied with the Halibut, okay with the chowder, and Mmmmming on the oysters. I recommend. Oh, btw, the "Bierstein" is in the same parking lot - beerinsanity! BUT, and yes, that's a might big but, Newmans is first... More

The food is good but it is a walk up window with outdoor seating, unless you don't mind the fishy smell inside, I did since I was eating dinner. Service was friendly and fast. Eugene just doesn't always have the best weather for sitting outside.

I have always loved the food at Newman's. My son is coming from Ohio and we MUST get take out. It is always fresh and so very tasty. You can call ahead and just pick it up.

Never fail they fry up the best seafood hands down. Every time they get the fish cooked perfectly. I love fried oysters, which they have occasionally for their daily special. Only draw back is in the winter outdoor seating is undo able in Oregon. So we get it to go and rush home to eat before it cools off too... More

One of my favorite haunts is Newman's off Coburg Road in Eugene. Every time I visit my family, I have to go there for their fish & chips.

Newman's is a "must do" if you're a Fish and Chips fan. The place is decidedly local. College students, downtown employees, business people were all there during my visit. The Halibut is great; fresh, hot and flaky. I got 2 extra scallops tossed on my order and it was a good move. I recommend extra scallops whenever applicable and at... More
