Marche, located in Eugene, Oregon, opened in August 1998. The restaurant, which seats 80 guests, has an exhibition kitchen featuring a beautiful wood-fired oven. There is also a stylish bar and a large outdoor dining area, covered with awnings and umbrellas and surrounded by a garden of herbs and edible flowers. Marche takes its name from the French word for market – a word that describes our location in the bustling 5th street Market and more importantly, our philosophy of cooking. The menu is based on the foods one would find at a farmer’s market: fresh, seasonal, and regional. Marche is committed to using only those ingredients that are at their best, so our menu evolves as we move through the seasons of the year. Marche also believes in using the highest quality and most healthful ingredients available and to that end use organic, free range, and chemical free products. The culinary technique is French-based: intensely flavored and simply but beautifully presented.

Disappointing experience

First let me say that Marche is one of our favorite restaurants. We travel from out of town to eat there and have had many fantastic meals. On our last trip we orderered the mussels frittes, a favorite dish and we were so disappointed. Almost half of the mussels were either empty or had a minuscule... read more

The food was very good and the wine even better. The atmosphere is very warm and cozy and the waiters very attentive. Overall a very, very nice experience.

A recent business trip downtown with my wife left us wondering where to go for a quick bite and a drink. I must say everything was fresh and amazing. The mescaline greens were crisp and flavorful and the homemade vinaigrette a perfect accompaniment. Our pinot noir wines were sourced locally as were most of the ingredients of our entrees. One... We went and got seated at the Watch the Chefs counter. We were worried about the high seats but it was very comfortable ( I am tall and wife short and seating can be an issue) . We had so much fun we went back another night. One night was at the salad, oysters and desert section, while the next... More

In town for business and had Sunday brunch. The restaurant was pretty busy, but the service was excellent and the food was delicious. I returned the following day for lunch and received the same excellent service and delicious food.

We were visiting Eugene and this restaurant was recommended. It is definitely lovely, with delicious and unique offerings. The staff was friendly and the vibe was nice. However, for six of us, the tab was pretty steep. I don't mind a splurge, but the portions were so tiny that we left hungry. If I'm going to shell out for a... More

We went here at 5pm on a week night for dinner. The menu was so limited I needed to order from the appetizer menu. Definitely a restaurant for those who enjoy small portions of expensive food. Avoid dining here at sunset as the west facing windows lack shades and you'll be blinded by the glare. Wait staff very attentive.

Very special meal at Marche. Great to see the open kitchen and the cooks performing their magic. Best pork chop ever, great mussels and frites, good wine list. Pricey, but worth it. We will be back for sure. Only complaint: the hostess. She seated us at a small drafty table near the entrance, while across from us were comfortable booths... More

We had lunch here on our last day in Eugene and wished we had "found" this place sooner so we could have had dinner too. Great ambiance and a wonderful menu. The frisee salad was amazing...cant wait to get back and have another. We had a view of the chefs preparing the meals so that was fun. We'll definitely return... More
