Hmm...

The food, as well as the service is hit or miss here. When its good, its great but when its not its just waiting forever for your food. The Burger is the best thing on the menu. The drinks are good too.

First, plan on spending 10 to 15 minutes finding a parking spot. Then plan on bringing a flashlight so you can read the menu. Do not plan on hearing what your dinner companion(s) are saying unless you want to yell across the table. Do plan on leaving hungry and unsatisfied. Do plan on going somewhere else later in the evening... More

We found this place to have a varied and interesting menu. Four of us ate "family style" so I was able to sample a few different dishes and all were excellent. Our server was very helpful in helping navigate through the menu options. One in our party was a vegetarian and there were a number of good options for him.... More

Having come up in Eugene in the 70's it is hard to wrap my head around the Whitaker Neighborhood being trendy, but there you have it. Back in the day about the only reason you'd go to Whitaker was for The Tiny Tavern's chili and cheap beer. This restaurant is is one of the reasons things have changed. I have... More

Our grad student son lives in Eugene, in the uber funky Whiteaker neighborhood, where one of the coolest little restaurants in town is located. Eugene has a surprising number of good eateries for a town of its size, but none more unique than Meiji. They are primarily a whiskey bar, but they have a decent wine selection and will let... More

I was referred here by a local who enjoys the small dish options and nice drink selections. I ordered a bourbon & ginger and we'll now be on the hunt to get a comparable version elsewhere. Fantastic drink made with fresh ginger. My husband and I weren't starving so we stopped after ordering 3 dishes. The mackerel dish was about... More

My wife and I shared three small plates. One, the fried calamari was a bit over cooked and was bland testing. Lacked sufficient seasoning. We also got the special fried egg plant. It was good but again lacked sufficient seasoning and was sitting in a soup of soy sauce. Our final dish the grilled mackerel was excellent. The service here... More

But for drinks and light (small) food plates it would be perfect. We went with our two kids and we were starving. Because we had never been before we asked our waiter to explain the theory behind the menu and what to expect. He explained that we should order several things and plan to share. And he warned us that... More

The nicest people in the world live and work in Oregon. Unfortunately not at Izakaya Meiji. I have to say this was the worst, most abusive service I have ever received in a restaurant. We were a party of eight. I was the least hungry and only ordered one dish -- a burger (having had a great Asian dinner the... More

Tonight we took our kids out for a different type of dinner experience. It was a family style dinner yet very elegant. We ordered numerous small dishes to pass. Spinach with black sesame sauce, Spicy Tuna Cocktail, Calamari, Grilled chicken and grilled steak kabobs, pickled cucumbers and more that I just don't recall the names. Their restaurant drink which the... More
