I recently went to this place for the first time---after it has been here for years, go figure! I was in a party of 7, and we all tasted everything! Their fried chicken was delightful, and the list of sides went on and on---and after I tasted the Mac and Cheese, Collard Greens, Baked Beans, Potato Salad, Corn, Corn Bread,... More

Papa's Soul Food Kitchen is located in the super hip Whiteaker neighborhood in Eugene and is a great place to pop in for a bite when health food is not what you crave. The gumbo was good, and the prices are reasonable. We were there for lunch, so I had iced tea, but the local craft beers would go well... More

We recently tried this restaurant, and it's kind of a fun, funky place, big portions, great, friendly and fast service, very reasonable prices! I tried the jerk chicken, just one bite and I loved it! Sauce was sweet yet spicy, found out it was a banana/habanero sauce, very different! For $11.00 it was a big portion, I had fries and... More

Tough place to get in but worth the wait. Fried chicken I have had in a long time. Fun place with everyone just having good time.

Lunch with friends on two different occasions. We were seated outside which was perfect for the weather. Brisket Sandwich the best brisket I've had in the area. Cole slaw was perfect on the sandwich and the best restaurant potato salad I've ever had. Our server was a kick and made our experience a most fun lunch! Good food and a... More

We got to Papa's at around 7:00pm on a saturday night (they're closed sunday & monday) and found the place packed and a waiting list at approx. 45 minutes. We ended up being seated closer to 30 minutes and got a picnic table outside, which was especially good because there is no air conditioning. That night's special was a sampler... More

Love hitting this place whenever I'm in Eugene. Love their gumbo (which can be prepared without shrimp if your not a crustacean eater) and the fried snapper is to die for. Not big selection of beer / alcohol, but the food more than makes up for that.

We went to Papa's about 3 years ago a couple of times. It was fun and the food was pretty good. Just revisited this week and we were very disappointed, probably will not be back. Husband had the fried crab which he described as very average and I had the hot links, which were hot but mealy. I had enough... More

I had the pastrami with that BBQ sauce that is the best I have ever tasted. My friend had the brisket and it was perfectly cooked. The red velvet cake was wonderful. I remember this place when it was the Blair Street Cafe (1970s), and then went through a few transitions. I hope Papa's never leaves!

Good price and great food in an awesome neighborhood. Years after moving away, I still visit Papa's every time I'm back in Eugene.
